The first is Freedom of speech — everywhere in the world. The second is Freedom of worship — everywhere in the world. The third is Freedom from want — everywhere in the world. The fourth is Freedom from fear — everywhere in the world. — President Roosevelt. DEDICATION " These freedoms shall be preserved. " We are assured of that by our president. Even more assurance is afforded us by the knowledge that these members of the past three senior classes have pledged their lives to this preservation. Many former faculty members, too, are fighting that we may live in a free land. To those men we. the senior class of 1943, dedicate this volume of the RHODODENDRON. We have included in our service page the names of faculty members and graduates during our four years ' stay at Appalachian. To the hundreds of other former students and faculty members of Appalachian in service, whom we do not mention by name we extend the same recognition and tribute, — The Staff.
