The band played for all home football games and paraded for many civic affairs. Early in May a spring concert was given. It was a combination of vocal and instrumental entertainment. At this concert some 50 new majorettes made their debut. The older 15 majorettes gave a fine baton exhibition. This was the final performance for the three Senior majorettes. Armstrong Countg Band The County Band festival was held in Apollo this year and was a big success. The members were composed of high school musicians from Dayton, Leechburg, Freeport, Kittanning, Cowan- shannoclc, and Apollo. Dr. A. 'D. Davenport, famed conductor and composer, was the guest conductor. There were nearly 150 in the Band. The students were kept overnight in private homes. The student audience for the afternoon was so large that two matinees were given and also an evening performance. High School Orchestra The Orchestra is an important organization in the high school. It provides music for all assembly programs and all extra events held in the high school. This year the County Orchestra festival was held in Freeport and ten Apollo players attended. Two of these ten players received special honors. Archie Kerr was placed in first chair, solo violin, and James Wilson placed first chair, solo trombone. James Wilson also played a trombone solo. - P Armstrong, Frick, Brackin, Sturgeon, Jackson, Wywcki, Mr. Sturgeon, Spencer Kerr Davis, Armstrong, Ament, Boarts, Kelly, Cramer, Wilson, Mangus, Cartwright Kunkle B.
