commmoiuc oFFicER use Arezzo rec say Dear ANZIO, Family and Friends, This Cruise Book chronicles ANZIO's participation in the EISENHOWER BATTLE GROUP JOINT TASK GROUP Mediterranean Deployment 00-l. From the outset, this deployment offered immense challenge as well as boundless opportunity, The February transit of the North Atlantic to perform Naval Surface Fire Support Qualification on the range at Cape Wrath, Scotland gave all of us onboard a healthy appreciation for the unpredictability ofthe weather and a sense of mission accomplishment. Similarly, the operations and exercises that ANZIO conducted in the Adriatic and Aegean Seas characterized summer in the Mediterranean and cooperation at its finest. ANZIO's superb performance on station represents a sizeable commitment on behalf of the U.S. in terms of deterrence and presence in this volatile region. Throughout the deployment, this magnificent warship has been carefully maintained and skillfully operated by the best Sailors in the U,S. Navy! They have perfomied each tasking admirably, whether deterring conflict, perfecting tactics with our NATO allies, integrating with the other members of IKEBATGRU, or appropriately representing the Navy and the Nation to our hosts. ANZIO's Sailors have performed brilliantly thanks to the unswerving support provided on the home-front. This Cruise Book is dedicated to ANZIOls crew and their families. As the deployment commenced, we established our End State: A safe and successjid deployment where ANZIO 's presence in the E UC OMXCOMSLXT HFLT Area of Responsibility made a memorable ondfavoroble impression while honoring her namesake. Judging by what you see in this book, there are memories that indicate we have achieved just that. Thank you one and all for your faithful contribution. Most sincerely, A aptain, U.S. Navy ANZIO, STAND AND FIGHT!
