SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Seniors and Underclassmen:
Aslattempt to write a "message" to you,
the faces of many of you as individauls and
of all ofus as a group flash before my mind 's
eye. I can say sincerely that it is a warm
and cherished feeling thatl find in my heart,
Though our associations have not been
close, I hope that they have been felt and
that they may be recalled pleasantly in fu-
ture times.
Hold to the best that you have leamed,
and don't disappoint any of those who love
you,
we. Jpav

STATE OF TEXAS
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS,
COUNTY OF HOCKLEY
that we, the Senior Class of 1957 of the Anton High School, being more or less of sound mind and memory, and
wanting to eliminate any confusion at our passing in the disposition of our feeble estate, do hereby bequeath and
demise unto those hereinafter mentioned, without any other action to be had in any other court, high or low, as
follows:

Joyce Braker leaves her title of "Trigger" to anybody who can follow in her steps.
Bruce Campbell leaves his many cars to John Ganzer.

Jones and wishes her best of luck.
Clifford George leaves his height to Hooch Bailey so they can split the difference.

Paul Lee leaves his many girl friends to Mike Biffle who's in a rut.
Iva Nell Hice leaves her ability to work, to go to school, to be a housewife, and to play basketball all in one
vear to Shirley Hice in hopes that she finishes.
Linda and Shirley Oakley leave their ability to not dress alike to Esta and Estell McCraw in hopes they'll take a
hint so that someone can tell them apart.
Geneta Oliver leaves her ability to pass English and play basketball both to any athletic person coming into the
Senior Class.
Jimmy Johnston just leaves - he hopes.
Jack Reed leaves - If Booty does.
Bertha Weige leaves her "keep off, boys, " to Jackie Sudduth who she's afraid is long gone already,

Darrel Whitten leaves his extra credits to Maurice Rieger who may need them.
Booty McLarty leaves - in hopes that Jack does.

IN THE FUTURE
"I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see
Saw tne vision of fmy classmatesg and all the wonders that would beg'
Maybe I can predict how the lives of each member of the class of '57 will tum out
if look far enough and intently enough into the future. ln some ways the future depends
on the past, l shall try to see into the subconscious of each one of these school friends,
and in their unconscious aspirations find the goal each will attain in ten years' time -
The class room shall be my officeg the desk at which each dozes, the couch the psychia-
trist uses to bare the souls of his subjects, thus I shall start my career as soothsayer -
Morris in his excitement about their new Ford seems to envision himself as emcee
of the "Tennessee Ernie Ford Show. " I predict that will be his future in the next decade -
now Joyce, or maybe I should say Trigger, will probably continue to gallop around for
years and ever be looking for greener pastures, Oh, she was ever thusl Bruce Campbell
has movie aspirations and will finally be by 1967 on his way to fame as a stand-in for a
great movie star - Casper the Friendly Ghost. JoAnn would be fearless, steady, calm -
a big game hunter in Africa is the goal she will attain! Russell hates work so much he
can't avoid being a ditch digger, fated to slave ten hours a day, to put his seven children
through college, QBut he's already put in a life time of loafing in his four years at A, H, SJ
Frank will be remembered by his classmates fsome of whom are his steady customers, for
owning one of the most prosperous gambling casinos in Las Vegas. He'll really rake
it ini Since Bruce Taylor enjoys English enough to keep on taking it over, he will be-
come one of the greatest English Professors Harvard has ever known, In ten years Booty
will gain all the weight she couldn't seem to gain in high school and be in charge of a
successful reducing salon in New York, l-ler figure will be the salon's best testimonial.
Linda Rushing was in a great hurry to get out of school, but after ten years of marriage
she will realize the necessity of higher education, and in '67 will be working on her
Master's Degree at Texas A 8s M. Now there's Jack, our naval hero, who is making
such a big success of his navy career that he will be the top ranking, , , Deck Swabber.
QI knew he had it in himlj Shirley will go to Paris to model the new Dior Creations for
that 'certain' look, Sam shows signs that he will be the Elvis Presley of tomorrow and will
have to have assistance from Nelta, the new wrestling sensation, to keep the girls away,
QI-lis side burns will really be hotly No longer will Ronald sleep until noon for in ten years
he will be getting up before the sun leading his boy scouts over the rugged Colorado
Mountains, QI guess that senior trip must have been too much for him,y Clifford has
been taking some growing pills, and I do believe they're working, He will be the tall
man in the circus, content to look down on the crowd for a change, Max Harrington,
after his experience with telephone poles, will get a job as lineman for the Bell Tele-
phone Company, ever going up - Richard's ambition to be a playboy will finally come
true, After a hard day's work he will come home and play football with his eleven boys.
Glenna loves guns so well that she will spend her time practicing to take over the lead
in The Annie Oakley Show, QI think she'll make it in timej Two cousins will make good
in New York as prima donnas, Linda Oakley will sing the lead in Carmen and Joyce
Vaughn will be the sensational new star in the ballet world, Nelda Ray will break all
records as she pilots her jet around the world in thirteen hours, fShe probably got her
pioneer spirit from Loula Grace Erdman book reports.j The movie-going world will
find their James Dean II in that carefree, easy-going Dewayne Sudduth, and Bertha will
become a nationally know figure since she will set a new record for the mile in the
Olympic Games.
Iva Nell will follow in the steps of Esther Williams by teaching her children to mim be-
fore they can walk, fThe one thing she could never do herselfll Sharon will try to conquer
her fear of horses by riding her own entry in the Kentucky Derby. But as usual she will
bring up the rear although she will think she is first because she will be on backwards.
However, even this will be a joy to her, as she was usually not on at all in the old days.
Paul Lee, who has always practiced safe-driving, will be giving instructions in driving
to tomorrow's youth, Since Janice had so many boyfriends, in the days of her youth
that she couldn't decide between them, by then, will be an old maid, Delmar Wooten,
who will take over the George Gobel Show will add Darrel Whitten to his writing staff.
Jimmy Johnston will take a liking to our little feathered friends since Phyllis Oakley
will take up feather dancing. CWhat changes the years do bringlj Alton Ryals as Sheriff
of Cochise, will arrest Daniel Martinez for imitating the fat lady in the Circus. QDaniel
grew in width if not in length in ten years,j Betty will take over the farm as she will
decide that to be easier than keeping up with her three sets of twins, and let Doyle do
the housework, Since Buddy had so much fun in biology cutting up frogs, he will decide
to become a frog mortician. fl wonder if he's a little "tetched, 'J Della will really see
the sights traveling all over the world with Barnum and Bailey Circus as the daring young
lady on the flying-trapeze, fSome costume IJ Since Max Martin was in the hospital a
long time, he learned about the profession and will decide to take up medicines. QI
wonder if he will keep a secret journal.J James Parker will decide to become a sailor
so he can have a girl in every port and follow the sailor's code of Love 'em and Leave
'em, Some of that Air Force Blue rubbed off on Geneta for she will be a hostess on an
air liner breaking hearts in that becoming uniform,
Have I read the signs correctlytr We'll just have to wait ten years and see,
