Mayloffer my congratulations to all who have had a part in it. As this is the crowning achievement in the work ofthe annual staff, graduation is the crowning event in the lives of high school students. We hope that each student will keep this in mind, cgncenuate on the goal, and make every effort to, not only pass all subjects, but make the best grades possible. The more successful you are in your high schoolcareer the more success you may expect from life. May you all have an abundance of success. As you know, the purpose of this yearbook is to preserve in pictures and words some of the pleasant memories ofthe school year. As we receive our copy ofthe Bulldogwe look first at our own pictures and we are pleased if they are good. We want to look nice to our friends. OTHERS, There-in lies the secret of the true happiness in our lives. Living for others more than for ourselves, The extent to which we do thiswill measure our success and happiness down the line. Stare of Texas Know all men by these presents, County of Hockley that we, the Senior Class of 1956, of Anton High School, being more or less of sound mind and memory, and wanting to eliminate any confusion at our passing in the disposition of our feeble estate, do here- by bequeath and demise unto those hereinafter mentioned, without any other action to be had in any other court, high or low, as follows: Charlene Buchanan wills her ability to get along with the coach to Iva Nell Wimberley and Geneta Oliver, who need it. Robert Burdette leaves to Ronald Lambeth his title of "President of the Crip Shot Missers Club. " Jack Reed leaves to Dewayne Sudduth his ability to kiss Booty in the hall. William Detwiler leaves to Alton Ryals his book of addresses of Littlefield girls. Johnny Bass leaves all the Hav-a-Tampa cigars to Richard Howard. He likes them too. We do hereby nominate and appoint Mr. James Cathey to be the executor without bond of the above enumerated estate. In testimony of all the above bequests, the Senior Class of Anton High School has caused the signature of its president to be subscribed to these presents. Class President January 15, 1976 Dear Editor-in-Chief of the 1976 BULLDOG, I wonder if you wouldn't like some material for your annual concerning former Anton High students. While in Hollywood last week, I attended a preview of Jean Prentice's latest production. She has become quite famous for her portrayals of Wife of Bath in Canterbury Tales. You can never imagine who the taxi driver was that took me to the preview. None other than Ada Lou Oliver. She said that driving a cab had its advantages as she met many celebrities - such as Wanda Buchanan, who is now under a contract with Warner Sisters as a ballet dancer. While standing in line to get in, I saw Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Parker, who now reside in Beverly Hills. Charlene said she had recently received a letter from Betty Thomas, who to our surprise is a spinster. Betty is working for a Coca-Cola Company QShe was always wanting a "sody pop"! J, whose manager is - - - James Parker! Betty said that James has become the "Eddie Fisher" of his plant. As I drew near the ticket window, I was amazed to see Robert Burdette selling tickets. I overheard someone say that this was his last chance to make good in life, as he had been caught embezzling money from the Citizens National Bank in San Diego, of which he was President. I also heard that David Goen had taken Robert's place because of his HIGH recommendations. Upon entering the lobby, whom did I see but Darlene Cabla, selling popcorn to support her six child- ren. I really felt sorry for her, as her husband is lazy and won't do a thing to help her. Iwas ushered into the theatre by Dewayne Pendergrass, who said he liked his work very much because he got to see all the previews free. As I was being ushered in, the newsreel began. I was shocked to find that Johnny Bass is wanted for fraud in thirty-eight states, as he has been impersonating the bearded lady in the Ting-a-Ling Carnival. The Sports reel began showing Dorothy Minton swimming the Red River. She broke all previous re- cords. Can you imagine DOROTHY swimming? 2? The biggest surprise though was to see Johnny Bujnosek in the sports news. He is the captain of the Globe Trotters, who have just given a performance for the President of the United States, Don Poston. The co-captain of the Globe Trotters, Daniel Walthall, was out of the game because of injuries received in a street brawl over a girl, The Comedy featured William Detwiler, Jack Reed, and Leroy Tibbets as The Three Stooges. After digging into their background, I discovered that William had attended C,O, P, on a football scholarship. Jack had been a truant officer of Beverly Hills High School. He had been a very success- ful officer because he knew all the tricks. Leroy had been heavy-weight lifting champion of California, but they had finally banded together in their most successful venture. At the beginning of the preview, I noticed Allen Grant had made quite a name for himself. I remem- ber in high school days that he had been an artist, but I never dreamed he would become a Makeup Artist. Marion McGrew, having loved speech so much in high school, has become a famous director. His brother, Floyd McGrew, married Mamie Van Doren recently leaving Marion without a leading lady, according to Hollywood gossip, The cast featured several former "Anton High" students. The Kesey twins have become as well known as the Andrews Sisters. Iwas astounded to see that Melissa Maynard, although nearing her fortieth year and with gray hair, is still famous for her child roles. Wanda Grace was featured in a Night Club role. She has become the Marilyn Monroe of 1976. In the midst of the best part of the preview, I was brought back to high school days by an old familiar giggle. I looked around and saw Marybeth Richards sitting with Rock Hudson. She is a famous Hollywood columnist now, succeeding Louella Parsons. While leaving the theatre, I bumped into an old classmate, Sandra Anderson, who is still taking correspondence courses - - not from high school, but U.C, L. A, She was telling me about Don Brazil, who is now a Maharaja in India. Sandra said she had read in a copy of the INDIA TIMES that Jo Ann Stephen- son had become Don's twelfth Maharani. I always knew Don was a lady-killer. It was a shock to me to see, or hear of again, so many former classmates. I felt sure you on the BULL- DOG staff would be interested to know they are still in the spotlight with movie cameras focused on them instead of the staff kodak. I want a copy of this year's BULLDOG and will mail you a check if you'1l write me the amount.
