J-T- T-g.-: - September 5, 1934 was a big day for fifty-four wee boys and girls whose shiny faces were turned up toward their teacher for the first time. They were our present Senior class which was entering Anton Primary School. That was twelve long years ago, but there are many remembrances of the hardships, fun, failures, success and the sweeter little things, like little love affairs. Yes, those were times of happiness. Other mileposts were second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and the eighth grades, and after much work and study, on May 29, 1942 the first graders of 1934 graduated from grade school and entered high school. During the first year in high school the Freshman Class con- sisted of forty-four members, with Mrs. Ben McGregor as Sponsor. Activities enjoyed were skating parties and ball games which were a success. The Sophomore year was spent deep in study due to the fact that there were no sports except basketball. Mrs. Everett Grey sponsored the class which ended the second year with a swimming party at Lubbock, Texas. Thirty students entered the Junior Class. Sports were re- instated and a majority of the class took part in them, which pepped up the school spirit. -Mrs. Orian Dennis was the Sponsor and the year was full of activities. Some of them were the pres- entation of the Junior Play NAtta Boy Waltn, and the spring May Festival with the coronation of uQueenH Helen Harms. Also, there was the Junior-Senior Banquet with a western theme carried out. The Junior year ended with a trip to Palo Dura Canyon, chaperoned by Mrs. Buck Campbell, Mrs. Jim Hobgood, Mrs. John Harper, and Mrs. Clarence Herrin. The Senior Class began with twenty-nine members. In Sept- ember the long waited for Senior rings arrived. Many activities were participated ing including the Operetta HLove Pirates of Hawaiiu, the annual spring May Festival, and the Junior-Senior Banquet. For fun there was among others the Halloween Party given by the Sponsors, Mrs. Clarence Herrin, Mrs. John Harper, Mrs. Ed. Hart, Mrs. C. L. Campbell, Mrs. Herbert Nelson, and Mrs. Jim Hobgood. This year was a successful one due to the guidance of Mr. J. S. Bridges. The Seniors of 1945-46 also sponsored the first annual ever to be published in Anton High School. The Seniorslare very grateful to their teachers who have ever been faithfu .
