Student Uouncil The Student Council sponsors many school social activities such as Home- coming, the Thanksgiving and Christmas programs, and student assemblies and duties as well as serving as the student body government. At Christmastime the Student Coun- cil decided to give S20 to each of four charitable organizations and to give canned gxoods for other worthy groups. One of t e largest money-making pro- jects was the selling of popcorn at the games. The members also sold Christ- mas cards, school pennants, and pins to raise funds for the various activities provided for all the students. The general purpose of this body is to co-ordinate more closely the working relationships of the students and their activities, their faculty relationships, and their social life. The twenty-nine council members are the representatives of the classes, the presidents of all state organizations, and the delegates to Boys and Girls' State. ROW 1: M. Forbrich, C. Lense, R. The play centered around Mrs. Savage, a rich woman, who was committed by her children to "The Cloisters, " a place for mental patients. Her children hoped to gain control in this way of the Savage fortune. With the inmates of "The Cloisters" the play came alive with comedy and also with the seriousness of life in a mental institution. Mrs. Savage . . Joanne Haydon Florence. . U . Dancers twirl past caverns with treasures, anchors and colorful sea creatures. The bandstand and punch table are giant clams, and an enormous octupus stretches overhead to make us feel as if we are dancing to Johnny Kaye's orchestra on the bottom of the sea. A spotlight illumines the climax of the evening, the presentation of the queen and her court. A few more dances and everyone departs with a treasure chest of memories of a wonderful prom. S. music department grew to a total of one hundred and thirty students. Various new musical groups were formed with the addition of a prep band, a madrical group, and several trios, quartets, and sextets from both the vocal and instru- mental line. Five programs were presented to the public with a fall band concert, a winter concert by the choruses, a Christmas concert with both vocal and instrumental groups performing together, a spring band concert, and a spring vocal recital. On October 8 the Antioch band attended the First Annual Band Day at Northwestern University. There they marched, along with 4, OOO other band members, on the field dur- ing the half-time of the Minnesota-Northwestern football game and enjoyed the game as guests of the university. The musicians attended the district music contest at Gurnee on April 7. ROW 1: L. Bolton, I. Kelly, S. Tegelman, L. Dewar, B. Yates, F. Ferdon. ROW 2: K. Plumer, L. Schlunz, I. Rogers, A.
