Entering the senior high school in 1953
as all green sophomores we elected as
our officers Dick Stengl Judy Remert
Leslie Braun
For our junior year officers we chose
Dick Stengl Leslie Braun and amce
Randall The junior prom which was the
big event of the year chose Moonlight
and Roses as its theme Paul Blazek was
chosen as king and Judy Remert was
queen Hi lighting the year honors and
scholarships were given to the students
who were worthy of them Dick Stengl
and Leslie Braun were given the Spoon
and Mirror for being the most out-
standing boy and girl. Terry McCloskey
was awarded the spade for having the
highest scholastic average. Delegates for
Badger Boys State were Bill Mattek Ray
Portman and Paul Blazek. The girl
we sent to Badger Girls State was Esther
McCandless Ken Fenton and Lynn Hom
merding were awarded the band scholar
ships and Judy Remert received the choir
scholarship
We entered the senior year quite confi
dent it would be a successful year At
the head of our class of 56 are Ray Port
man Bonnie Mehren Leslie Braun The
beginning big event this year was home
coming We chose Beverly Hubatch as
our queen and her attendants were Leslie
Braun Mary o Ross Mary Goodman
and Janice Randall
Our class play was a three act comedy
named Fathers Been to Mars. Candy
Cane Ball was the theme of our Snow-
ball. It was led by Ray Portman and
Lynn Hommerdingg I am certain as we go
on in life we will always look back and
remember these as being some of the
best years of our lives.

The Antigo High School football team came
through with a record of three wins, four losses,
and one tie during the 1955 campaign.
jerry Prins and Dick Frey were named co-
captains of the team and jerry Prins was elected
end on the second squad of the All-State team.
The Robins showed improvement over last year
and sophomore quarterback, Bob Fischer, demon-
strated great ability in leading his team.
With twelve lettermen returning in the fall foot-
ball fans can be looking forward to an interesting
season.

The Antigo High School B team had one of
its best seasons by winning all but one of its
games. The campaign ended with an impressive
four and one record with the only loss going to
Shawano.

G.A.A. is an all-girl organization di-
rected by Miss juneau. All girls interested
cz: in sports meet in the old gym on Wednes-
day nights to play the sports that are in
season.
Besides the regular sports, G.A.A. also
provides bowling. Bowling is enjoyed on
two nights, and all who are interested
meet at the Arcade at 3 :50 to compete for
high averages.
At the end of the school year a banquet
is held and awards for outstanding
achievement are given.

W'ith Mr. Schimmels acting as advisor, the Antigonian
staff has provided students with news and views from
around school. They wrote, edited, and produced a
paper usually every three weeks, gaining experiences
in these fields and learning more about the fundament-
als of journalism.
But all work and no play is hardly their motto. Two
dances were sponsored and all remember the Salt Water
Taffy. Behind the scene happenings 'were also fun, but
that is another story.

This year the band again appeared at the
football and basketball games. ln addition, they
played two concerts for the public, took part in
assemblies, and played and marched in the
Spring Festival. Many parades had added color
because of the band. Out-of-town trips taken
this year were to Marinette to perform at a foot-
ball gameg Wfausau to play at the teachers
convenriong Merrill to take part in the band
clinic, and Rhinelander and Stevens Point to
festivals.

Latin Club is for all students who have com-
pleted two years of Latin, or are in the second
year at present. Latin Club's purpose is to
further the study of Roman life and customs.
The outstanding social event sponsored by
Latin Club, is a banquet Roman style, held in

The purpose of the Drama club is to give
those students who are interested, a chance to
display their ability in dramatics.
Miss Leider is the advisor, with Paul Bla-
zek as president and Laura Dietrich as secre-
fafy.
A one act comedy, A Date with Paul, was
given March 5. Plans for another play are in
progress.

The purpose of the student council is to
gain better relationship between students and
faculty and a more friendly school atmosphere,
and to regulate school activities so they are
more effective. All council members must be in
good scholastic standing.
This year the council under the guidance of
Mr. Guensberg, has efficiently run the Home-
coming, the Christmas dance, the recreation
room program, the Senior Farewell dance, the
school community chest, and the clothing drive
for the Federation of Children. The council also
sponsors attendance of some of its members to
district and state council meetings.
