Under the expert leadershxp and tramxng of Coach
Ed ONexll the Antxgo charges became a smooth run
n1ng h1gh geared football umt The results were the
highest conference f1n1sh for an Antlgo grxd team slnce
1941 and frequent thrxllmg v1ctor1es not witnessed by
Antlgo fans for years
The season opener a non conference clash at Shaw
ano gave promxse that thls AHS team wasnt gomg to
be pushed around easlly Then after a 31 0 humblmg at
the hands of tradltxonally powerful Wausau the boys
began to climb And yet our team could take to Marsh
field only the hardly impressive conference record of no

Playmg peerless football the Robms blasted the
Tigers 21 7 and returned to Antngo for the 1955 Home
coming game against the confident and well manned

By th1s tlme every one ln contact was thmkxng of

to avoxd bemg over confident the 11 assumed lmme

the Hodags 39 6 whose sllm chances for victory faded
even before the flrst half ended
It was a truly fme season and the Antlgo Robms were
well rewarded by both clmchxng undtsputed second
place ln the WISCOHSIH Valley conference and by bring

Thelr better than awerage record of 9 wms and 8 losses 1nd1

Coached by Dtck Lund the Robm ay Vees boasted mns ow er
such powers as WIISCOHSIH Rapnds Tomahawk and XY'ausau twice
Other uctornes scored were wxns oyer Marshfleld Rhmclander

Vuth seyeral players alternatmg between the B team and
