DEDICATION
We, the class of 1953, take great pleasure in dedicating our annual to our parents.
They have been, and alwayls will be our "guiding light". They have led us through our
grievances and pleasures. If it ad not been forlthem many of us would not be on the right
road to success. We will alwa s need th l '

make these, our high school years, "The Best Years of Our Lives. "

MEMOR
I cannot say, and I will not say.
That he is dead. He is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand,
He has wandered into an unknown land.
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there.
And you oh, you, who the wildest' yearn
For an old-time step, and the glad return,

JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS
President Tom Prosser
Vice President Marilyn Osness
Secretary-Treasurer Peggy Kennedy
We, the class of "54", finished our junior year with a lot more sureness
of ourselves than we had as sophomores.
As sophomores we chose Dennis Carter, Dave Burt, and Kaye Frederick
as our class officers. For a float theme for homecoming we had "Keep the
Robins Flyin to the End Zone." We were all satisfied in all of our choices.
Sharon Cahag represented Antigo High in the District Forensic Contest at Stevens
Point. In sports the class was represented in both football and basketball. We
also had active participants in various other activities. At the "spread" the
sophomores were victorious by getting a prize for the most original idea, which
was Robinhood.
In our junior year, the class chose as officers TomProsser, Marilyn Osness,
and Peggy Kermedy. As a float theme we chose "We're Pulling for Amigo."
The showing the juniors made in football and basketball was excellent and
proves to be promising of many victories next year. The greatest task of the
junior year is the chosing of a Prom theme. The theme chosen for this year was
'Castles Under the Stars." The committees worked hard to make their prom a
big success.

As Sophomores, our class officers were Jack Tooley, Collette McCormick and Pat Fletcher.
Our Homecoming float was "We'll Stew Wausau". Everyone seemed well satisfied. We entered
our junior year with hopes of making it the most successful junior class ever. The class officers
were Arliss Strobel, Mary Kennedy and Pete Petroll. The theme of our Homecoming float was
"Toast to Amigo". It received honorable mention. The most important event of that year was
the beautiful prom "Jungle Fantasy". The king and queen were Wayne Lukas and Sharon Clark.
Much hard work was put into this project but it was all worth while. There were many partici-
pants in all sports and activities.
In the spring of "52" we entered our final year at Amigo High. The class officers were
Wes Mader, Sharon Clark and Doris Schumitsch. The first ig event was Homecoming. Our
queen and her court were Doris Schumitsch, Mary Kennedy, Sharon Clark, Norma Stasek, and
Carol Braun. The senior class float was "Hold that Tiger" which took first place, Soon after
this we started working on the Snowball. Everyone spent a lovely evening in Paris. The king was
Wes Mader and honorary queen was Janet Murrayg the queen Collette McCormick and honorary
kin Arliss Strobel reigned over the formal. With the coming of graduation we are striving to
mage these the best years of our lives.

Relying heavily on four lettermen, the Antigo School Robins launched their season with a
win over Marshfield.
From there on the Robins had their u s and downs ending in the second division in the con-
ference. The fearless Robins fared much better against non-conference foes, winning four and
dropping one.
In midseason the team chose Arliss Strobel, senior guard, as captain for the remainder of
the season.
Jack Winter, junior forward, was high scorer for the Robins when the regular season ended,
and wassamong the top seven scorers in the conference.
The bright spot of the season for the team was its well earned victory over highly ranked
Stevens Point, They squeezed past the Panthers by a score of 64-63.
Losses by graduation this year were few, among those who have played for the last time were
Jim Meidl, Arliss Strobel, Gene Schlundt, and Jim Waddell.
Returning next year are DeWayne Cahak, Dick Drengler, Fritz Kestly, Bill Kostelac, Don
Krall, Don Parker and Jack Winter.

lnuamurals consists of touch-football, basketball, ping-pong, shuffleboard and volley ball.
ln basketball there are three leagues: one playing during the noon hour and the other two
during the evenings. Evening teams are divided into two leagues, the National and the American.
After two rounds of play in each of these leagues, there is a playoff between the two top teams
for the intramural championship.
The outstanding senior boy participating in intramural athletics is given recognition.
Climaxing the intramural basketball season is the annual Faculty-All Star game. Ten sen-
ior boys are picked from the intramural teams to represent the student body as the All Stars.
The purpose of intramurals is to give boys who cannot compete in varsity or junior varsity
athletics an opportunity to participate in competitive athletics.
Sportsmanship and teamwork are stressed and practiced by all who participate.
The entire intramural program was directed by Mr. Blaskey.

THE A-B-C BANDS
The instrumental music division of the Antigo High School is an exceptionally active
member of the school organizations. In its entirety the band is composed of over 120 pieces
and is seen and heard on many occasions.
For many concert and marching purposes, the A-B-C bands perform together. The
main exception is the annual spring interscholastic music festival. During this past year
each member participated in the contest at Stevens Point and Rhinelander and brought home
many district and state honors. Our band was distinguished by winning the highest total
number of points awarded in competition to bands in the Wisconsin Valley Festival.
The annual spring concert was presented as usual including a varied program of pop-
ular, swing, and classical numbers. These were all well received by a large and appre-
ciative audience. The proceeds of such concerts are used to supplement the facilities pro-
vided by the public schools for the instrumental music department. A new innovation this
year was a very successful participation by the band in the Christmas Concert usually pre-
sented by the vocal department.

The band actively participates in football and basketball games and many other school
activities during the year. As in previous years, the band was on hand at out-of-town foot-
ball games, greatly adding to the spirit and enthusiasm of the local fans.
Among other trips made by the band was a concert tour of several state high schools.
These proved very successful and are hoped to be continued in the future.
Numerous civic events and parades were led by the High School Band. Our only re-
gret was that we had to miss the Loggers Convention at Escanaba this year due to a football
game here on the same date.
