Attack Squadron 728 was an Organized Reserve Squadron based at Glenview, Illinois, until recall to active duty on Feb- ruary 1, 1952. Seven months of preparation for combat duty were climaxed when the squadron embarked aboard the An- tietam for duty in the Far East. VA-728 flew sorties from the carrier over a six-month period to chalk up 1700 cuts in enemy rail lines, destruction of 271 railroad cars and extensive damage or destruction to other enemy installations, including bridges, buildings and anti-aircraft gun emplacements.
