Under the leadership of Gary Green, assembly man- ager, many entertaining and educational assemblies were presented at Antelope Valley High. Various na- tional and student participation assemblies were seen in the auditorium and gym. It's All in Black and White was tho title of the P.T.A. production which was based on a survey of activities. This survey was token among Senior Civics Classes. From left to right ore: Joyce Jenne, Karen Hair and Chris Barden. Some of the most outstanding were the Christmas program presented by the music department and one- act plays given by the drama department. The wide variety of speakers and performers in national assem- blies were also of great interest and enjoyed by A girls' triple trio from the A Cappella Choir sang Home for tho Holidays in the annual Christmas assembly. They are, left to right; Nancy Ryan, Micki Vance, lorcnc Patchen, Kathy Klingerman, Barbara Payne, Judy Brown, Carolyn Thompson, Nancy Erstad, and Helena Robblee. 138 A group of curious onlookers gather around Carl Scobie and his daughter, Carolyn, as they display a variety of reptiles. These two snake authorities presented a National Assembly on October 16, in which they discussed the different types of snakes and their habits.

wce - DRUM MAJOR Dick Kraber Included in our Award Winning Band are the Majorettes and PomPom girls. This year with Janet Dwyer as president of the Kappa Legga Bootz and Judy Stout as vice president. It was heard the girls had a rip-roaring time. The day of initiation was quite a riot. The girls being initiated wore angel costumes and also were not allowed to wear make-up or curl their hair. The initiating majorettes also helped the matter by making them eat garlic, onions and limburger. I think the general plea of the students at A. V. was Please don't come near me. Many good plays were presented this year at A. V. To start off the year an evening of one-act plays were presented under the direction of Miss Muriel McDaniel on November 21. They were: “Beware the Bear, about a girls' camp and an escaped convict; Sparkin, a hillbilly romance; Afterwards, a teenage love story with a new twist; If Girls Asked Boys for Dates, a teenage comedy. A Christmas play, directed by Mr. Thompson, was written entirely by English students about what would happen if Jesus were born in modern times. Fog on the Valley was the play A. V. entered in the one-act play tournament at the Pasadena Playhouse. Of course the biggest production this year was the spring play Our Town. Sue Nash and Lynn Donaldson had the leads. Sharon Rudiscll dances with her wind-op doll, Molly Puterbaugh in a skit presented with the Christmas play.
