yn X ,ff Having already spent one year at
A.H.S., we returned to take our places
as wise-old juniors. We struggled with
geometry and American history and
entertained the seniors with a banquet.
We were represented in such sports
as football and basketball and gained
pride with the thought of being upper-
elassmen. When we saw our senior
friends going out and taking their
places in the wide, wide world, it was
with regret that we realized that in
Om!-p,-5 only one more year our high school
days would be over.

We arrived at Anniston High School
green Sophomores, excited and a little

that we were a part of everything that

The Anniston High School Troupe 1018 has been
a chapter of the National Thespian Society for five
years. During the year this club is active in many so-
cial and worthwhile projects. Under the leadership
of Mrs. Frances Cobbs, our sponsor, we successfully
accomplish various activities.
Membership into the National Thespian Society
is gained by obtaining ten or more points from var-
ious dramatic projects. Each point received represents
ten hours of work.
Highlights of the year were the plays presented on
chapel, the fall and spring induction ceremony, and
monthly radio programs. This club is one of the most
active in the school and contributes much to the
school life.

The Frances Massey Club ol' the Future Teach-
Qe-JL ers of America was chartered by the National Associ-
D ation in 1948. The purpose ol' the club is to encourage
young people to become teachers.
This year representatives ol' the club went to the
District Conference in Gadsden. Meinbers of the club
have also been used as substitute teachers for short
periods. The annual Christmas party that the club
gives for underprivileged children was a big success,
as each child had a full stocking and all he could eat.
Vv'e feel that members ol' this club are gaining
much Valuable information and experience in the p1'o-
fession of teaching. Many thanks are given to our
sponsor, lVlrs. W'illiams

EASY ALREAUY!
BACKTO SCHOOL. . .
AUGUST 31-Whee! Our moms and pops did it again
Yep, those amazing people called parents got us to
A.H.S. in fine style-only a few minutes late for
first class.
SEPTEMBER 3-Back to the books again. The Sopho-
mores are getting initiated into the ways of A.H.S.
SEPTEMBER 7-Hey Week began today and everyone
was knocking themselves out being friendly. Don't
think the Seniors aren't proud of their little red tags
with the great big SR. on them.
SEPTEMBER 11-First ballgame of the year.. .The
Bulldogs did a grand job of walloping Alexandria-
yelled my lungs out.
SEPTEMBER 23-Straw in my ears - Hay in my
mouth? No, I'm just dreaming. The Possum Valley
Gang played on Assembly and I've been humming
mountain music ever since.
SEPTEMBER 30-Assembly-Rev. Kimbrough talked on
"Good Sport"-We know that his talk will have a
great deal of influence on the student body for our
'53-54 year.
OCTOBER 5-Met fwell, let's call him Joel in the hall
today. He!s not so cute as Bill, l met last summer.
OCTOBER 14-Tom Simms told us all about cartoon
designing on Assembly today-came home and read
"Popcye.!'
OCTOBER 15-We yelled ourselves hoarse at the Big
Bonfire, lighted by the Cheerleaders with Ed leading
the exercises.
OCTOBER 16-Homecoming-Up at dawn to get some
stuff for our float. The Parade was a tremendous
success with the Juniors coming away with top hon-
ors. Gail Wright looked a perfect doll as our Home-
coming Queen, and lush was the word for the at-
tendants-'Aileen Craig and Barbara Mohlmann.
-Oh yes- the Bulldogs romped over Dothan, mak-
ing a swell week-end complete,
OCTOBER 30-Impressive was the word for the Honor
Society Induction today-The old members tried so
hard to be dignified and the inductees looked
s-o-ooo surprised.
NOVEMBER l-Magazine campaign over for another
year-Hurrah! The Seniors really worked to top last
year's quota-but they did it!
NOVEMBER 6-Had a date with Joe tonight-still don't
think he's as cute as Bill!
NOVEMBER ll-Singing in the auditorium-Prof. had
us all in fine spirits.
NOVEMBER 19-20-Our speech director, Mrs. Cobbs,
certainly did herself proud with the fall play, "Fog
lslandf'
NOVEMER 25-Thanksgiving-We all gave thanks that
it was only three weeks 'til the Christmas holidays!
NOVEMBER 26-The Turkey Day game and the last of
the season-We gave'Ohatchee quite a ruffing up-
I just can't get over that beginning of the end feeling!
Joe took me to the dance tonight-he can shag even
better than Bill!
NOVEMBER 29-Congratulations - Jimmy Waits and
Tommy Rose for being ALL-COUNTY!
DECEMBER 1-Senior rings arrived and you should
have seen the commotion they created. After all,
it's one of those once in a lifetime events.
DECEMBER 6-With "Big Chief Wilson" at its head, the
Student Council is really going to town this year-
sponsoring the Hi-Echo and everything . . .
DECEMBER 10-Coronation tonight- " 'Twas the Night
