The wisdom we find has shed light not only on the world but also on ourselves. May we proudly lift this light above us now as we leave this school, and may this book help keep alive the light of our memories: the candles in Chapel, the Lantern Procession, candles at A. A. Initiation, the bonfires at TASC parties, and, of course, the lights of our academic classes. OUR HIGH-LIGHTS Mondays in Hushed Secrecy . . . zaney skits . . . memories in the making . . . call for candids . . . junior executives? . . . the dread deadline 5 DEDICATION To you, Mrs. Hoover, the Class of 1962 dedicates this Shield to show our deep appreciation for the gifts of your special talents you have made to our school. Your playing of the organ, making beautiful our chapel services, your inspiration and labors on behalf of the Weiss Chamber Music concerts, your own recitals and, most of all, your high personal ideals . . . for all of this, we thank you. Victoria Abigail Nelson Marmot Elizabeth Spohn IN MEMORIAM We do not know. We cannot understand that all three of you should be taken from us, so suddenly and senselessly it seems. Because of you we must search more deeply with- in ourselves for meaning in our lives; we must try to find assurance that you have found greater life in some way beyond our comprehension. You are gone from us, our friends; yet your faith-your belief in the goodness of life, is with us still. May we learn from your examples to try to live as best we can and to follow you fearlessly when death approaches. — Carol Oncley 7 ALMA MATER Hail to thee our Alma Mater Seminary fair; May achievements crown thy labors Is our earnest prayer. CHORUS Hearts turn toward our Alma Mater May our lives at length Prove thy daughters bear thy motto On from Strength to Strength. Deep and true as those blue waters Thou art reared above, May the characters thou moldest, Hold thee in their love. Pure as yonder snow clad mountains Where our glances fall, May we in the years to follow Answer to thy call. s ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY MISS RUTH JENKINS, Headmistress Each year when we return you greet us with your renewed spirit and wis dom. Now that we are leaving, the strength of your ideals and the depth of your understanding will influence our lives as we attempt to measure up to your every expectation and to bring honor to all that you and the Seminary represent, as we go From Strength to Strength . 10 o  IT LEFT TO RIGHT: Mrs. D. It is a time of great joy and excitement when students and friends gather on the lovely grounds to anticipate the p rocession of the May Court. The traditional court includes the Senior class with Judith Gullander as the reigning Queen, Judith Yengling as the Maid of Honor, Lynne Braidwood and Susan Fairbourn as Flagbearers. The attendants of the court are representative of the genuine and gracious qualities characterized in an ideal May Queen.
