HIS HOLINESS POPE JOHN XXIII
foreword
The year 1961 marks on important milestone in
the history of Annhurst. It was 20 years ago that
a dream -- the foundation of CI Catholic College
for women in South Woodstock, Connecticut -
became CI reality.
The years have passed swiftly and the College
has grown from an initial enrollment of five to this
year's high of 247 students. In this transition period
the seal of Annhurst has remained unchanged for
it truly depicts the spirit of the College.
Therefore, on this the twentieth anniversary of
the founding of Annhurst, we the Class of 1961, have
chosen the seal of the College as our theme. Her
motto "Deus Primus Serviatur" has also become our
motto for our greatest aim in life is to "serve God
first." As we leave Annhurst we shall tctke it with
us as we embark on our chosen ways of life.
MMMW
We, the Class of 1961, dedicate this, our
Yearbook, to you, dear Alma Mater. You have
given us the most important aspect of intel-
lectual life e Truth. It has opened our minds
to Wisdom by its omnipresence - before us,
beckoning; above us, inspiring.
We are thankful for the many opportunities
you have afforded us during our years With
you. Through your wise understanding we
have been guided into the deeper realms of
learning and have become more enriched
intellectually, spiritually and culturally.
AS we stand at the threshold of life, we
shall endeavor to attain our goals and hold
high the ideals Which you, Annhurst, hove
instilled in us.

In gratitude
We, the Class of 1961, on our departure from Annhurst extend our
sincere appreciation to:
The Administration and Faculty who have dedicated
themselves to the task of preparing us to meet the
responsibilities of our future lives. As we prepare to
leave may we say a special "thank you" in appreciation
for all you have done, because without you there would
be no Annhurst.
Sister St. Wilfrid, our yearbook adviser, for her patience,
understanding and guidance in helping us edit the
SYLVAN.
Morin Studio, Webster, Massachusetts, for the SYLVAN
photography.
Our patrons and friends without whose help, the SYLVAN
would not have been possible.
Mr. George Scalley, Worcester, Massachusetts for printing
the SYLVAN.
Our parents whose untiring efforts have enabled us to
reap the benefits of CI Catholic college education.
