Gfass gfis fory As THE Class of 1947 looks back on four busy years, it looks back on much fun and work which have made these years happy ones. It was in the 1943-44 school year that we, as timid freshmen, re- garded the seniors with almost reverent awe. We participated in a few activities-bond rallies, jamborees, stunt night, we got all excited about the Miss AHS contest, and were were very proud of Cosimo and his Musicmakers who sent us with solid jive at all the dances. It was a great year, but we all looked forward to: 1944-45 when we were experienced in the ways of A. H. S. The National Honor Society now challenged us in a scholastic way, while Stunt Night, the junior Prom, and the senior play, Junior Miss , reminded us that we were one step closer to that enviable role of seniors. We liked this year, but we liked even more the prospect of being juniors in 1945-46. The war was over now, and we relaxed and enjoyed a shift to the emphasis on peace. Our musical organizations entertained at functions both in and out of school. The seniors staged a hit in Young April , which reflected our own lives-the lives of teen-age boys and girls. Several new clubs were born, too--another Hi-Y, the Chess Club, and the French Club. And then suddenly we realized that our last year was here- 1946-47, probably the best of the four! This year has been our busiest with the leadership of every major school organization or activ- ity as our responsibility. Our activities have been varied and many, and when we review them, as recorded in this book, we take pleasure in priceless memories. 164
