Crossing the line O0-OO 1080 IOE The day before had been a bad scene for the shell- backs. Mobs of polywogs had roamed the ship, fer- reting out shellbacks and dragging them to the Antenna Deck where they were lathered up and then given a good wash down, Many shellbacks did not approve of this treatment, including the Captain and Comm Officer. The mob of 200 that waited for the Captain on the Antenna Deck bothered him less though than the two hour mutiny led by Mr. Kimball. The polywogs knew then that they were in for a rough time, The colorful costumes and the sadistically jovial spirit of the shellbacks came across in sharp contrastto the sting of the stiff paddles, which were wielded with such careless abandon, Case in point - fopposite page, bottom rightj the XO with his sickly sweet smile is obviously hiding some devilishly, dastardly plan for the docile polywogs gathered around him.
