DYKES Third Division Officer Am emma The primary function of Third Division is to carry out those phases of deck seamanship such as mooring, replenishment at sea, cargo handling that may be as- signed to it. ' More specifically, Third Division is responsible for various external and internal spaces of the ship. It is responsible for the antenna deck, hull structure cat- walks, accommodation ladders, boat booms and the after port and starboard qquarterdecky sponsons. Third Division is responsible for the cleaning, main- tenance and preservation of such internal spaces as the trash burner room, reel room, and various below- deck passageways. Third Division personnel help man the gun mounts during GQ, stand underway lookout, helm and lee helm watches and supply boatswain's mates for both under- way and in-port watches. SN S. SNC SN T.
