445060 7045544914 7 644462 715 W ammcmclmg 0 9 gm, 1967 1:0 1 761 may CAPTAIN W1ll1am F CASPER of Roselle Park N J began h1s naval career as a quartermaster 1n 1942 After a year and a half 1n that rate he was selected for Navy sponsored un1vers1ty tra1n1ng In 1946 Capta1n CASPER was graduated from Yale Un1vers1ty and was comm1ss1oned 1n the rank of Ens1gn Follow1ng the second World War Capta1n CASPER was on lnactlve duty untll the Korean confl1ct broke out He then served 1n several destroyer and destroyer d1v1s1on staff blllets ln Task Force 77 Follow1ng Korea Capta1n CASPER stud1ed Command Commun1cat1ons at the U S Naval Post Graduate School Monterey Cal1forn1a From 1954 1956 he was ass1gned as Ass1stant Commun1cat1ons Off1cer on the staff of Commander Amph1b1ous Forces Un1ted States Atlant1c Fleet Capta1n CASPER reported aboard USS PETERSON QDE 1525 for duty as Executlve Off1cer 1n 1956 Two years later he attended the Command and Staff Course at the Naval War College at Newport Rhode Island and 1n 1960 he assumed h1s f1rst command USS TOM GREEN COUNTY QLST 11595 homeported 1n Yokosuka Japan After two years 1n TOM GREEN COUNTY Capta1n CASPER served 1n several b1llets 1n the Washlngton area 1nclud1ng duty w1th the Naval Operatlons and the Defense Commun1cat1ons Engmeerlng Off1ce Capta1n CASPER returned to sea as Command1ng Off1cer USS GEORGE K MACKENZIE QDD 8265 1n October 1965 and subsequently assumed com mand of ANNAPOLIS on 9 January 1966 Capta1n CASPER'S next duty statlon IS at Naval Sh1p Systems Command Wash1ngton D C 1n the Afloat Commun1cat1ons Management Off1ce 7 ' l f 7 f I f 9 0 5 , o Q, ' 9 ' 9 ' 9 ' 9 .
