LU lcum tu -. Two new teachers have been added to the staff at A-J this year. The two rookies are Kathy Kelly, who took the place of Miss Ayers in the art department, and Cindy Jones, who replaced Mrs. Blakely in the special education department. Ms. Kelly is a 1979 graduate of S.l.U. where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. Last year she taught art and coached the girls' freshman basketball team at Fenton High School in Bensonville, Illinois, near Chicago. When asked what the biggest difference is between teaching at A-J and teaching at Fenton, she replied, There's a lack of incentive down here. The students do the minimal to just get them by. At Fenton, the motivation level was higher, and there was more of a desire from the students to do their best. When asked what she liked best about A-J, Ms. Kelly said that she liked A-J because it's a small school, the people are easy to get along with, and the girls' basketball team has a lot of talent. Ms. Jones is a 1981 graduate of S.l.U. where she received a degree in Special Education with specializations in L.D. and E.M.H. This is Ms. Jones' first teaching job. She presently lives in Murphysboro and drives from there to A-J each day. When asked what she likes best about A-J, Ms. Jones replied that she likes the students best. uma me 'f Jr' if Kathy Kelly Cindy Jones N A N ,,w's
