'lihe Class of 19-lo will he the lirst to graduate into our post-war worlcl with
many opportunities that were unknown ten years ago. XYith these opportunities
you may expect to assume responsibilities anal to meet problems that are new to
you. Some of you will go directly from high school into a working world while
others will continue their formal education in college. XYliatever course you choose
to follow, you must continue to improve yourself. Educational opportunities will
continue to present themselves each clay of your life and you must take advantage
of them if you advance. Until now others have set the goals for you to attain.
After you grarluate you must set your own goals anrl attain them hy your own
ehforts. Vkie believe that you can and we wish you success.

Gee whiz! Only three days between Christmas vacation and
semester exams. And do we regret not studying when we should have
all during the semester. lt seems like some kids just live from one holi-
day 'till the next. Chritinas is just over, and already they are talking
about spring vacation! Long wavy hair just doc-sn't exist anymore-
Crew "GI" haircuts are ill their gruesome glory. Starting second sem-
ester gives all of us Seniors a lump in our throats---we will soon be

where are we going to raise the money for ll ffllllll class gift to leave
the school? The secretary reported ll sum ol' S3 in the treasury. ldcas
were considered, Zlllfl the class soon got underway to raising funds.
'llhe G.A.A. had Il lJ21CliVt'Zl1'ClS dance-Y-the girls asked boys for dates,
and acted 11s hosts all eveningfeveu to the extent ol giving the boys
vegetable eorsages! Many hoys with recent honoralmle discharges are
lilling the corridors once more, peering curiously into classrooms they

ll glorious end. to the laments of the student body. Several assembly
programs were given by other schools in our conference we 11lso took

He held the position as quarter-
back of A-bl for 3 years. His play-
calling went into the making of
two conference championship
teams for Anna'-Ionesboro. He re-
ceived the honor of being selected
as captain of the Chicago Daily
News Second All-State Football
eleven. Class senior, weight 132,
height 5'5", age 17.
BOB KIIXTBRO-reserve end. Es-
tablished a line record on his pass
receiving, also a good man on de-
fense. Class junior, weight 132,
height 5' 75", age 17.
BOB DAVIS-left end, Proved
himself to be an especially good
man on defense. He caught sev-
eral important passes to aid the
team record. Class senior, weight
153, height 5' 9M", age 17.
DAVID RENDLEMAN-reserve
center. Started the season and was
replaced by Verble. Served some
as reserve guard, he is gaining in
size, may be a player to watch in
the future. Class junior, weight
153, height 5'11M", age 16.
MURRAY CHOATE-right half.
Played some in nearly every game
of the season. Was a good man on
defense, he did most of his run-
ning around left end where he av-
eraged 3.8 yards per try. Class sen-
ior, weight 144, height 5'9", age
17.
CARL VERBLE-center. One of
th e outstanding players. He
backed up the line on defense and
o f t e n smacked through and
blocked punts, A rough boy, hard
to block out. Class junior, weight
163, height 5' S", age 15.
IJ O N A L D LEWIS - reserve
guard. Small but a smart player.
He established a good record in
his playing against Cape, one of
our big games. VVill be back next
year. I-Ie should prove outstand-
ing. Class junior, weight 144,
height 5'7", age 16.
IOIC PETERS-left tackle. One
of the biggest men on the team,
and he used his size wisely. Capa-
ble of busting open holes and
bringing down opponent men with
a jar. I-Ie was in on nearly every
line play. Class junior, weight 178,
height o'1", age 16.
DON BOYD-fulllmack. One of
the hardest plnngers A-,I has seen.
llas excellent driving power and
speed. Backed up the line on de-
fense and smeared many an op-
ponent. Class junior, weight 163,
height 5'9", age 16.

Gardner their attack was one mainly
of aerial tactics. English was manager
and head man of the team, often
throwing passes up to 40 yards to any
of the other teammates.
YOLLEYBALL CHAMPS OF 1946
Under the leadership of Lee Rendle-
man, l3rickey's senior home room won
their second volleyball school cham-
pionship. Un the court, Martin led
the team by his spiking and general
net play.
The other members: D. Pugh, ll.
Lingle, and R. L. Mayer were good
all court players, and aided greatly in
the linal goal.
The championship game was one of
the most thrilling ever played. Pitted
against thc Junior Class Champs this
senior homeroom came from behind
and won by a two--point margin, 21-19.
