The one- and two-bedroom unfurn- ished dwellings are gathered into eight complexes west of the main campus and one east. There were 59 families housed in the fall of ,69. Maximum capacity was ex- pected for the spring semester. Internship Provides Journalism Skill -'kA. I i -- --Q Critically studying his copy. editor Bill Martin discusses his feature story with Bill Brurnfield. nfs' Journalism majors and minors have the opportunity to receive on-the-job professional training through the IN- TERNSHIP program with the San An- gelo Standard-Times. Junior journalists spend five weeks as interns on the staff, during which time they work 100 hours in all aspects of the editorial depart- ments. Special emphasis is given to news writing, editing, design, and layout. During the summer a similar program is offered to any student wishing to pur- sue a career in the newspaper field. He can be employed at any of the Hart- Hanks. lnc.. newspapers for six weeks and six hours credit, Working in this program offers the journalism student experience in his chosen field as he faces deadlines, the unrelenting demands for thoroughness and accuracy, the requirements of time and space, and the opportunities for originality.
