7... ANDREWS 16 - PECOS 0 Blinding speed, strength, and finesse was iust too much for the Pecos Eagles as they were clipped for a l64O loss at the Horses' hooves. All the points were scored in the second quarter, with Dudley Mitchell and R. E. Merritt hitting pay dirt. The second half turned out to be a real defensive duel. ANDREWS 26 - BROWNFIELD 6 Working behind an explosive offense and a powerful defense, the Mustangs cinched their third play-off berth in four years by downing Brownfield in I9-degree temperature. Brown- field gathered in an early 6-O lead after recovering an Andrews fumble, but Tommy Walker scored three touchdowns and Loyd Carruth one to take the contest. F. i CHARLES HILLIS End 2 L ANDREWS 48 - COLORADO CITY 14 Scoring 32 points in the last half, the potent Mustangs turned back a fired up Colorado City team and rolled on to ruin the Wolves' home- coming 48-ld. Colorado City scored first and held the lead until the second quarter, when the Mustangs picked up lo points. Again, several AHS players hit the scoring column. ANDREWS 34 - KERMIT I4 After a tense, scoreless first quarter Andrews caught fire to down archfrival Kermit in the dis! trict opener. ln the second' quarter, Loyd Car- ruth, Ted Nelson, and Basil Greaves each added six pointersg however, in the third stanza, Kermit bounced back with two quick tallies. A tight Mustang defense completely dominated the Ector defense. Tommy Walker and Loyd Carruth went over for the points. ANDREWS 28 - MONAHANS 14 Blanked until two minutes left in the first half, the Andrews crew exploded for two quick tallies for a T4-6 intermission advantage over the Mona- hans eleven. In the second half, Andrews moved to a more comfortable 22-6 spread before the Lobos could once again strike, Scoring for the Mustangs were Ted Nelson, R. E.
