BALLAD OF ANDREW LEWIS From the first assembly to Senior Day Our ballad we compose. The dances, hops- dramatics, too, In poetry and prose. In fall, our school spirit is revived When our team comes on the field. The band, the cheers, the roaring crowd Are music in our hearts now sealed. When alumni return for one longing look And Seniors think of the years ahead, We know it is Homecoming Day With glad times and joy widespread. The Christmas spirit is felt by us Wh en we give and do not receive. We show this through the Christmas baskets And we hope this spirit won’t leave. Dancing, drama, singing, cheers, Excitement at its peak. On Friday, we look forward to The assemblies that end our week. Music is brought in various ways By the choir when they their concerts bring, Or by the band marching on the field; Both make our hearts to sing. This is the finale of the tumbling act which includes Bill Howley, Steve Veasey, Jim Lough. Molly Lenaeus gives her rendition of “Twelfth of Never”, one of the popular songs of the day. Senior Robert Staton, Sherman Hinkley and the Dreamers, (Sandra Hodges, Joan Dickens, Jackie Boothe) again lend a hand as they assist Frankie Carroll in singing “It’s Too Soon To Know”. Vera Wood sings a “Teen-Age Prayer”. Pat Poindexter is helped from her sleigh by two of the Chordsmen, her reindeer, as she begins her dance in a Winter Wonderland. Billy Manning, with the help of the Chordsmen, Kenny Copenhaver, Steve Tyler, Don Kelly, and Bobby Baldwin, sings “Young and Beautiful”. Melvin Wade, accompanied by The Dreamers, Robert Staton (drums) and Sherman Hinkley (guitar) sings “Blue Christmas”.
