Chorister The Student Christian Association, organized in the spring of 1945, is now open to students of the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades. It has grown from a small group of approximately a dozen interested students, who first had the dream of such an organization, to the present membership of more than one hundred. The S. C. A. has for its goal the fostering and strengthening of Christian character among our student body. It encourages leadership through participation in the devotional programs which are held semi-monthly. It is hoped that our efforts today toward the promotion of the worth-while in life may be felt also in our community. [ 90 ]

By reciting poetry throughout the year We get rid of “stage fright” and have no fear. We remember rhythm, meter, and rhyme And with “Pearl” we have a “grand ole” time. Plays patriotic in their theme Make history come alive it does seem. Then plays for laughter and for fun Put care and trouble on the run. Contests of every kind and creed Fill every kind of need. You know the rest—on the papers you have read Of the different things we “have said,” How for “assembly” there was needed a speech, Or for a program you wanted a “peach.” ’Twas not a voice in the darkness or “Richard at the Door,” But the voices from our class that will be heard FOREVERMORE. Its purpose is to do for the school what the Kiwanis Club does for the community; namely, to carry out projects for the improvement and growth of the school, thus bringing the two into closer relationship. The club was not active this year, but definite plans have been made for several projects next year to carry out the aim of the club. The Key Club consists of thirty members—twelve seniors, twelve juniors and six sophomores. Membership is limited to boys only, each of whom must excel in scholarship, be approved by the principal and faculty, and be unanimously accepted by the members of the club. [91 ]
