SODALITAS LATINA The Sodalitas Latina was organized four years ago by Miss Annie Cook and since that time it has grown to be one of the school’s most prominent clubs. The purpose of the club is to bring together those who are taking Latin and those who have taken it and still show an interest in the Classics. Any person who has either of these qualifications and who has passed his course is eligible for membership. The club has many activities during the year which are both social and educational. Its social functions consist of dances, such as the “Christmas Dance” and the annual “May Day Formal.” Parties for the faculty, such as the annual " Faculty Tea,” let the students meet the teachers in a social at¬ mosphere. The club has regular meetings in which the programs consist of lectures by prominent classicists or professional persons on Roman customs, habits and dress, or Latin literature. Slides are shown on phases of Roman life. The members of the various classes plan and give these programs. The club usually presents an educational assembly program for the school. It gives an Easter pageant or a Roman fashion show in alternate years. This year the Latin and Home Economics Clubs gave a fashion show comparing and contrasting Roman and modern fashions. [ 73 ]
