THE PIONEER Monogram Club David “Ty” Miller President Bill “Beetle” Shaw Secretary and Treasurer The Monogram Club of ’44 and ’45 was organized at the beginning of the year under the sponsorship of Coach G. H. Spruhan. The club was formed around a nucleus of eight members and after the football and basket ball season, the new letter winners were voted in the club. The activities of the club have been somewhat curtailed, like other clubs due to the war. We have had one dance. As this writing goes to press we are planning a dance and a banquet for the members of the club at the end of the basket ball season. THE MEMBERS OF THE MONOGRAM CLUB David Miller, Guy H. Faculty Advisor Jean Hann Monday and Tuesday afternoons the sound of clicking typewriters echoes through quiet halls of Lewis as the News goes to press. Wednesday, copy is proof¬ read. Friday, the circulation department takes over. Friday morning, teachers get little attention from students whose only interest is finding out the news of the week and who made “Et Cetera.” A member of the Southern-Interscholastic Press Association, this paper is under the guidance of John H. Snapp, teacher of English. 45

FORTY-FIVE - x Projection Club Mr. S. H. Watkins . Faculty Advisor The Projection Club is an organization which was formed for the purpose of operat¬ ing the equipment provided for the school’s audio-visual education. The club has rendered valuable service in this school and has also aided the student member by broadening his fields of interest. The Club was founded six years ago and has progressed rapidly under the direction of its sponsor, Mr. Selden H. Watkins. This club is composed of nineteen members at this time. The boys keep the equipment in order, show films in the classrooms and in the auditorium, make slides, operate the slide machine, and set up the speakers and amplifier for assemblies and other programs. They also take quite a number of pictures for the annual. Since no films for machine movies are available this year, we have not made movies of school activities as we have done in previous years. The girls in the club have charge of the secretarial work and of keeping the Projection room in order.
