Ma’am? . . . Excuse me, I er” . . . (Oh, what was I thinkin’ about? She means in the poem, of course. I had forgotten we were studying “Enoch Arden.”) . . . Oh, the bell! . . . Soup’s on! . . . Now to rush thru eats so we can walk the halls an’ get a worm’s-eye view of “Love in Bloom” . . . Ah well, snows of winter, like the Seniors of ’37 will soon be “Gone With the Wind.” . . . Well, well, let’s hope that we “sophs” who came in like lambs will go out like lions, with medals instead of colds on our chests! . . . Say, Earl, what time is it? Would ya’ mind wakin’ me up when the bell rings? —Helen Chewning 40
