Tuning Up For A Practice Session.
To encourage and stimulate musical ex-
pression, the Music Department offers a di-
versity of activities providing opportunities
for development of ability. In addition to thc
required music appreciation classes, instru-
mental instruction for beginners, band and
orchestra, mixed choruses and girls' choruses,
courses in theory and composition for ad-
vanced students are available. Choruses, band
and orchestra perform at weekly assemblies
and at Parents Association meetings. The
Christmas program, traditionally presented by
the Department, highlights the holiday season.
Practice in perfecting techniques culminates
in performance by groups and individuals at
the Spring Concert, an event eagerly awaited
by Jackson audiences.
