Through the years she has worked with un-
remitting zeal to organize, systernatize and imple-
ment the ejectiue functioning of necessary .services
of the school without losing sight of the basic
needs of the students or the high school's respon-
sibility to prepare young people to meet the im-
minent challenge of adult life.
Although she is best known to us as Administrative-
Assistant and Dean of Girls, the number and variety
of the facets of lWrs. Broganls career of twenty-seven
years at Andrew Jackson High School are surprising.
She acted as Jackson's first English Department
head. She was at one time Dean of Boys. Serving as
director of attendance and as grade adviser, she was
responsible for the inauguration of Jackson's guidance
and attendance systems. She found time to sponsor
the usherettes and the cheerleaders. The Parents As-
sociation has elected here an honorary member, and
she has also been elected an honorary member of
N.Y.U.'s Pi Lambda Theta.
Mrs. Brogan says, "I hope that each graduate makes
MRS. ELISABETH BROGAN
the best of his ability and contributes to the growth of
our country, and particularly that the girls investigate
and train for the many opportunities that are available
to women todayf'
During her recent leave of absence, lN4rs. Brogan
traveled in Africa. Now she is retiring and plans to
continue her travels.
The class of 1961 is proud to award the rank of
Honorary Senior to Mrs. Brogan, on the occasion of her
retirement, in recognition of her devoted service to An-
drew Jackson High School. lklrs. Broganls fellow sen-
iors congratulate her upon her 'graduationl and wish
her bon voyage in her new 'careerl as world traveler.

It is diHicult to enumerate the many important services that
our assistant principal, Mr. Jack Deutsch, renders for Andrew
Jackson High School in his position as Administrative Assistant
and Dean of Boys.
Among his diversified activities, school organization is the fore-
most concern. This includes teachers' appointments, assembly pro-
grams and school schedules. He prepares the monthly school cal-
endar to guide the faculty. Still another function he performs is
the planning of the budget, a vital factor in the efficient operation
of the school. Disbursement of G.O. funds is also under his super-
vision. One of his prodigious tasks is supervising the work of the
deans, a select group of teachers chosen to implement school dis-
cipline. Truly his work never ends.
Mr. Deutsch's unremitting efforts and intense devotion ensure
the welfare of our students and the security of our school.
