"SCIIO0LS AT WAR FLAG"
Since January, 1945, Andrew Jackson has flown the 'Schools at War Flag" in rec-
ognition of the fact that at least 90? of its students have been buying war stamps and
bonds each month. Jackson has been doing its part in this way, as in many others.
to hring its alumni home sooner from the war fronts.

As niernbers of lhe Congress of Parents and Teachers, we should be iniorined ro-
garding our schools, their needs, their work, and how they are affecting the lives of
our children.
As an association dedicated to school improvement and to closer co-ordination of
school and home, much of the responsibility for interpretation rests with local, state,
and national P.T.A. groups.
The Andrew Jackson P.T.A. is constantly striving to carry out these objectives.

G. A. A.
The purpose of the C.A.A. is to arouse an interest in sports among girls and to en-
courage good sportsmanship, cooperation, and leadership. The highlight of the
yearls program, which includes many social events as well as various sports, is the
annual banquet held in the spring. At this time the girls receive the awards which
they have earned by participating in the tournaments and games.
The organization is led by Misses Ruth Smith, Bernice Walton and Betty Hooks.

FO0TBALL LETTERS
On August 26 Jac-kson's football practice for the 1941-41 season began. What was lacking in quality
was made up in quantity, for there were one hundred and ten boys out for the team. Added to the coach-
ing staff to assist Coach Hewlett and Coach Smith were lVlax Partin and John Saare.
Though the season ended successfully with a total of seven games won, two lost, and one tied, the
opener with Hillsborough High of Tampa was lost by a score of 13-0. The next game was somewhat bet-
ter, for the Tigers defeated West Palm Beach in We st Palm Beach 27-0. On Friday 13, Jackson set An-
drew Jackson of Miami back on its heels 45-7, and th en added St. Paul's to the list of victories with a score
of 40-0. Rated as underdogs by local newspaper columnists, Jackson next beat Plant, and then the fol-
lowing week took Miami Edison to the tune of 19-6 in the Orange Bowl.
Then came November 10, when a wild, cheering mob of people saw Landon, Jackson's cross-town
rivals, whip the Tigers 19-12. The next game, in Columbia, South Carolina, was a 39-7 victory for Jack-
son. Next was the victory over Daytona Beach, 27-7. ln this game occurred the only injury of the season
-Leslie High temporarily dislocated his right elbow. This brought the season to its climax, the annual
Thanksgiving game with Lee, which ended in a 6-6 tie. In the post-season Kiwanis benefit game, Lee and
Jackson defeated Landon and Fletcher, 539-6, each team playing a quarter.

The Road Ahead For 1945
Almost daily, the war brings us new tasks to performg new problems to
meet and solveg new trails to blaze in our experience-as individuals, as
families and as a nation.
The road ahead will not be an easy one. But it is up to each and every
one of us to make it the road to complete Victory, which includes not
only a military triumph over our enemies, but also a just and lasting
peace.
We must work harder in 1945 and put more of our savings in War Bonds.
You can also help in conserving electricity and in taking good care of
your electrical appliances which have served you so long and so well,
until new improved ones can he had to serve you longer and better.
Electricity Is Vital to War-Don't Waste It
