They keep the student body moving with all their many activities. But the Stu- dent Council does more thanjust plan school functions. This year. as district presidents, they not only carry their own load. but that of others. Carolyn Hoppe Organizations ' 39 Pan American Qfudenf orum The Pan American Student Forum is composed of students from Andress who represent different creeds and nationalities. It was instituted to create brotherhood among races. Andress is proud to represent the city of El Paso and the E.P.P.S. at the annual State Convention in San Antonio, Texas. P.A.S.F. members worked hard all year with car washes, club sponsored skat- ing parties, selling stationery supplies, and other fund raising projects, in order to go to this convention. - f yu. at ,a V,.Wi g i . Here it is time again our congratulations to extend, To Mr. Bailey and the Andress Golden Eagle Band: Sometimes we wonder where or how they have found, That great. tremendous. stcreophonic sound: The music of the hand and brass choir was spine-chilling. But the finale reached sounds so extremely thrilling: The applause that followed couldn't be measured, Yet. the experience was something to be forever treasured. Of course, with each year that passes by. There also comes the time to say "Good-Bye" To the seniors of this school and of the band. We cordially extend a well-wishing hand: The Sweepstakes they have deserved indeed. The Andress Golden Eagles are "The Best." it was agreed: As the school year draws near to its finale end. "" Q 4 ,H H if bf The days flow by like a mountain stream A Dashing and tumbling over the riverbed of life. With each new twist and turn the scenery changes, Bringing on new faces and places. Down the winding mountain trail we run, Coming to rest in a clear, placid pool. And there we stop for a moment- To reflect on the memories of the past four years, And to comtemplate on the times ahead. We linger on, reluctant to leave our sheltered mountain, Anxious at the thought of the many more to come. A pebble drops, and the ripples tell us it is Time. The earth is warm and the sun smiles on us As we continue on our way. Upperclassmen tease everyday . . . "Freshmen are dumbfthey continually say. Remembering eighth grade when you were at the top. And then you come here and are pushed around like a mop. Walking through the hall, looking for the right door, Then trip on the crack sticking up from the floor. Your're used to the school, and find the right doors, You move up into the class of the mighty sophomores. Next year, when new freshmen arrive from all around You'll stick out your chest and say, "Now look who's the clown!' Now the freshman class is really not bad, They know much more than their predecessors had: It'sjust those little slip-ups that we all make Are greatly exaggerated when it's our lowerclassmen's mistake. Actually freshmen aren't really bad. It'sjust the reputation that they've had. So if you see a freshman, don't put him down, Give him a hand and show him around. A few of those losses could have been wins if the breaks would have went the liagles' way. Andress broke a string of 20 defeats by beating Jefferson l3-l2. Then the next week beat Bowie at their home- coming I5-14. But. the Irvin Rockets proved too strong as they retained the blue-gold helmet for another year.
