Grutka, accompanied Joseph Cardinal Beran, exiled Archbishop of Prague, to Andrean for a formal visit and dinner. Five days later, Our Bishop paid an informal visit to the School with Francis Cardinal Sep- ers, Archbishop of Zagreb, Croatia. The snow continued to fall silently through the night, and by morning the forecast blizzard was a reality. The snow had come and it cancelled the GAA Turnabout, the Mardi Gras, Daddy-Date Night, a couple of basketball games, and a wrestling meet. The school remained closed, the halls empty, the teachers enjoyed a few days off, and the students anti- cipated an extended holiday. The school stood knee-deep in snow, while the plows worked feverishly to open the entrances and the parking lot. Little by little Andrean revived, the snow diminished, and school resumed Feb- ruary 7. 19 Administration Principal REVEREND JOHN A. BURKE, C.S.B. 22 SISTER M. Students Seniors - a Class Proud of Its Achievements CLASS OFFICERS: Mark Hermes, President: Maggie Gavin, Vice-President; Anne O’Keefe, Secretary; Emmett Fitzgerald, Treasurer. My dear Seniors, In the past, my parting message to the Seniors was a reluctant good-bye and a sincere nostalgia at the thought of their leaving. But schools, like life, must go on, so with a farewell to them, I awaited another Senior class to take their place. This year it is different. As I say good-bye to you, the class of 1 967, I also take my place alongside you and join you as you bid farewell to Andrean. For, this year, you and I graduate together. I have loved Andrean, loved it ever since the day in the winter of 1 959 when I saw it for the first time — a stark skeleton of steel reaching from the mud to the leaden skies. With each year my pride swelled as I saw it grow and take its place among the most respected schools of the state. I have been proud of its students and as I watched one class after another graduate, I hoped that, because they were true 59 ' ers, the world they were entering would become a better world, a more Christian world, because of their influence. This same hope I cherish for you today. If my hope is realized, then Andrean has been a success. You are the ones who must prove this success. To my last graduating class, I say good-bye. May God be with you to help you meet the Christian challenge of life. Father Burke 36 IRENE T. ADAMCZYK JOSEPH J. ALT w : BARRY L. ARDELL KATHLEEN M. ADAMS RAYMOND J. AIMONE GEORGIA A. I 125 “The Finest of the Finest” Happy faces, blaring horns, headlights blinking, gay colored streamers and the " never-say-die spirit of the " niners " pervaded the clear, brisk air and set the mood for Andrean’s annual Homecoming at Gilroy Stadium, October 29th, 1966. The tension mounted and grew to fever pitch until the words of James Chelich, Student Council President, rang out on the stadium public ad- dress system, " The 1966 Homecoming Queen of An- drean High School is . . . Adelle Wagner! " The wind and cold were quickly forgotten as the student body warmly cheered the announcement. Cindy Ramirez, An- drean ' s Homecoming Queen of 1965, presented Adelle with a dozen long-stemmed gold roses as Jim placed the crown on her head. Queen Adelle and her court, Maggie Gavin, Sue Gre- goline, Linda Kalicki, and Jeanne Tully, ascended the float for the traditional ride down Broadway back to school. Following were the underclassmen ' s float and about 1 20 decorated cars. The festivities were climaxed at the Homecoming dance that evening. The Queen and her court, in their flowing formal gowns, were escorted by Mark Hermes, Marty Kopchik, Tom Grzesik, Rich Ye- lusich, and Mike Maloney. Sean McCormick, captain of the football team, presented our queen with the tradi- tional autographed football from the team. James Chelich could have chosen no better a phrase to summarize Homecoming 1966 than finest of the fin- est. " 126 Library Assistants SITTING: T. Moos and J. Eisman. STANDING: V. Krysa, G.
