DIRIGO GIRLS ' STATE Girls ' State is a practical application of Americanism and good citizen- ship. It is an attempt to teach and to impress upon the minds of the young people of America a love of God and Country. At Girls ' State each and every delegate had anequal opportunity to make the most of her stay. Each year over 300 girls in the State of Maine are offered this opportunity, and it is in- deed an honor and an unforgettable experience. The express purpose of Girls ' State is to provide citizenship training for girls of high school age and to help them grasp some of the responsibilities which they must assume in later life. At Girls ' State they are instructed in various governmental func- tions and made aware of the duties and privileges of a citizen. By being of- fered this opportunity, they return to their communities and schools with a new inspiration for the roles ahead as Citizens of Tomorrow . DIRIGO BOYS ' STATE American Citizenship is our most priceless possession. In order to take our parts as useful citizens, we must all participate in and contribute our efforts to the civic and political welfare of our county, state, and nation. At Boys ' State, we learned how these obligations are met and how our country, town, and state are run. Our week there proved an invaluable ex- perience for us and was an important part of our high school training.
