SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT Realizing that social studies are of vital importance in a secondary education, four courses in this Held are offered to those attending Anderson High School. Psychology, open to members of the junior and senior classes, has as its primary purpose the development of students into well-adjusted adults. Tenth graders enrolled in world history engage in a thorough study of the subject from the prehistoric civili- zations through the World Warsg while the American his- tory course traces the hirth, growth, and development of our nation. The latter is a required course in the eleventh grade. By familiarizing himself with the origin, organization, and powers of the government, the senior government student prepares to heeome a responsible citizen. Billie Marett tests the reflexes of Terrell Stephenson in a psychology class Government student lem Terry looks over a copy of the Declaration of Independence, one of which was presented to each senior by a local civic club. 1 . vw I've got it, exclaims Martha Morrow as she surprises her American history class.
