Presenting the winners of the current quiz programs--the teachers. The wheel of progress moves on and with it moves Anderson High. When Anderson High School began back in 1872, there were only a fewdepartments with only two or three courses under each. Today under each of the thirteen departments there are between five and twenty courses offered. For example, in the English department not only are 1B, lA, 2B, and 2A English taught, but also speech, dramatics, advanced reading, world literature, composition, remedial English and many other types. But what and where would the high schools be without their guiding light, the faculty? The English department is ably headed by C. H. McClureg the Soc- ial Science department by George Da- vis, who is acting in place of Elmer Goss 5 the Art department by Miss Wil- ma Balyeatg the Foreign-Language de-- partment by Miss Fannie Nagle, the Physical Science department by Jesse Stutsmang the Mathematics depart- ment by W. H. Brinsong the Physical Education' department by Archie Chaddg the Biological Science depart- ment by B. B. Hortong the Commercial department by Miss Katherine Brown, the Household Arts department by Mrs. Margaret Leachman, the Vocational Agriculture department by W. C. Kolb, and last, but not least the Trades and Industry department by Paul Bergevin. The faculty is made up of 88 teachers many of whom are graduates of A. H. S. There have been many changes in the faculty this year. Mr. Goss left to serve his country last fall, and Mrs. Ella Goss left early this spring to join him. Mr. Davis is head of the Social Science de- partment while Lieutenant-Colone: Goss is away, and Mrs. Vivian Maine has taken over Mr. Davis's work. Mrs. Bonylin Pflasterer is substituting for Mrs. Goss. Mrs. Mae Henry is away on a leave of absence this year, and Mrs. Helen Preston is taking her place in the Foreign Language department Mrs. Catherine Richter is substituting in Mrs. Preston's position in the Eng- lish department. Miss Dorothy Dunlap is taking the place of Miss Ruth Hill this year, and Mrs. Lashbrook is still substituting for Ralph Shields. When Miss Rosalie Hirsch left this year, Miss Mary Humphrey took her place in the Art department. Mrs. Helen Hum- phreys is substituting in the Social Science department. Robert Drummond was added to the faculty last fall and Joseph Dye at midterm. FACUll1xif1S"lY D MIGON ANDERSON JOHN P. AMICK Eronomics Social Sriencr I h Q li.
