Paper short- age, labor shortages, metal shortages, photographer supply shortages, all help to make the task a difficult one. The staff was chosen early in the year, and all were told that it could be done, if they were willing to work and if enough advertising and promises of sales could be secured, to finance the publication. The advertising and circulation staff needed no more urging, and scarcely one house or place of business in Anderson's vicinity escaped their avid canvassing. A more than sufficient amount was obtained. Next the editorial staff went to work. Assignments were made and the dummy was put together and dissected a count- less number of times. The sixteenth volume of the Anderson- ian was named, The Promise Number, symbolizing the stake we all have in the future. A
