ZH? ATHEANDERSONIAN' A JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL Anderson Township junior High Basketball team enjoyed a successful year after winning five games, losing three and tying one. The team con- sisted of all new men since there was no nucleus left from last year's squad. The men winning letters for their loyalty to the team and their ability as players are: Allen, jackson, Clark and Klein. The Junior High Girls' team played five games this year. Since most of the girls were introduced to basketball for the first time, they made an excel- lent showing. The players, earning their letters through participation, ability and sportsmanship, were: Kirby, Shepard, Terwilliger, Hawkins. Schneider, Nordyke and Coffelt. BASEBALL Coach Srofe has already started his batteries for the l93-1 baseball sea- son. XVe hope that we can predict that Anderson will be near the top, if not the Cha1nps . Last year, 1933, after a good season we were astonished to find out that we were in a three-way tie for first place. After winning one game we lost our second, giving us second place in this division of the county. SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT Coach Srofe and Coach Brown decided to carry on the Softball Scholas- tic Tournament in the future years, due to the fact that it gives more students a chance to become acquainted with sports through actual competition than any other sport carried on in our school. The 1933 Softball Tournament was won by the Sophomores, who pro- duced a very classy and fast playing team under the management of 'lim Aubke. Second place went to the Juniors and third place to the Freshmen. TRACK With warmer weather coming some of the boys are looking with longing eyes at the shelf where lie the long spikes of the cinder track. Due to the fine coaching of Mr. Brown and the fine co-operation of the boys, we were able to astonish the county by taking lifth place last year. This year there are very fine prospects of placing much higher and every- one is looking forward to a very successful year for the track team. L E? A4 1934 ' lEL Page twenty-four
