SENICR CLASS HISTORY
Class Motto Esse Quam Vldere
fTo be lathel than to seeml
Class Colors Old Rose Gleell and White Class Flowei Pink Rose
In the past four years as we tl od the halls of Anderson carefree and
Jog ous we did not think of what would become of us in the future but
responsive chord
How proud we felt four yeais ago to be able to begin our wo1k in a
new school We have the distinction of being the first class to complete
all four years of high school education at Anderson On September 9
1929 forty five humble and timid little Freshies started to school but
we soon found a staunch friend Miss Straus whose kind and sympathetic
nature soon gate us confidence in ourselves yes enough to carry us
safely through that most trying ordeal Freshman Initiation
Still Miss Straus afl aid to trust us alone went with us through the
Sophomore Year Fullv satisfied that we had meted out good for evil
to the lncoming Freshman Class we were soon ready for our Junior Year
Here we came under the influence of Mr Ellis who safely and economl
cally piloted us through this year
What member of our class will ever forget our trip to Opaloopa Ala
bama'7 Lest you who read this do not understand we are speaking here
of our Junior Class Plas Alabama Bound Looking back again near
the last of that year we see yaids of crepe paper feet of yellow led
green and orange dolls tons of confetti countless cherry blossoms all
fashioned into a beautiful fauyland where we banqueted our worthy
friends the Seniors of 1932
The fall of 1933 found us back at Anderson quiet and reseived in
manner ready for our heavy responsibilities as Seniors and housed in
the new addition with Mrs. Bath as our advisor I feel quite sure that
could the Seniors of 1932 have watched our close application to duty and
our non-argumentative meetings this year they too would hate said
Well done we salute you .
With Max Fightmaster our artist and Lantern Editor Robert Dax is
as our efficient Annual Editor and Harold Obee our two-in-one business
manager, we feel that we may modestly boast of our endeavors in the
field of Journalism. We Wish to say here that we have greatly enjoyed
working with Miss Hines as Lantern Advisor.
The last few weeks of a Seniors life usually seems a nightmare of
plays, etc., and ours is no exception. W'e are striving on toward that
goal of our dreams, Commencement. We shall never forget the kindness
and patience of our Superintendent and teachers and the friends we made
at Anderson. We shall ever be conscious of the great influence these
things have had on us.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Late in the month of October Mr Brown gave the first call for try
outs for the girls basketball team About ten girls from last year s team
reported also a large number of other girls who were interested and
wanted to learn the game After three or four practlces Mr Brown
forced to drop three of them from the squad as we were only permitted
to have twelve members We regretted very much to lose these members
as they were an lmportant factor rn the success of the main scorrng
machlne and they helped to develop a varsity team that was a match to
Anderson s strongest opponents
The Comets won eleven games out of fourteen and scored 425
points to their opponents 279
The letter glrls of the season are Jean Sheldon fCaptJ Edna
Bauer Lois Cross Lorralne Guenther Ruth Ilhardt Thelma Knrpplrng
Esther Schneider Helen Schnelder Mildred Schneider and Evelyn Sonny

We wish to thank Mr Brown our coach for his splendrd rnstr uctron
and much tried patience and Maryorre Jaderlund our man rger for her co
operatlon We hope that success rs in store for them next year

SOCIETY
On September 30 with excitement on every hand the F16Si1l9S started
on what they thought was the road to death but which proved only to
be the lengthy corridor leading to the school auditorium Numbers were
present to welcome the 1ncom1ng Freshmen and to 1n1t1ate them 1nto all
the secrets and traditions of Anderson Entertainments hllarious in
nature consisting of humorous speeches by upperclassmen was the larg
est feature of the evening Refreshments of a delicious nature were
served Needless to say the Freshmen were the centre of attraction at
this social event in thelr honor
One of the interesting affairs of the present season was the oppor
tumtv that the members of the communlty and student body had to
attend the presentation of the faculty This reception was sponsored by
the P T A and was well represented
Freshmen' We congratulate you on your ability to entertain From
the success of the Freshmen party of February 28 we belleve that the
word green can no longer applv to the members of this class
Anderson was host to the second round of the 1933 Hamilton County
Girls Class B Basketball Tournament Friday afternoon and evenlng
on March 3 It was with pleasure that we welcomed some 400 guests
from this sectlon of Ohio
Once every year it IS the privilege of the faculty to entertain the
members of the Bd of Ed and their families The 1933 Banquet was
held on Thursday April 6 and the same spirit of friendliness and cooper
ation which is so characteristic of this group was prevalent at thls de
llghtful soclal function
Persons of all ages were present and equally entertained at the open
mg performance of What About Betty presented on April 15 by the
members of the Junior Class The people of the communitv were well
pleased with the talent displayed and eagerly showed their appreclatlon
The long awaited eve of April 29 turned up and with It the Iun1o1
Senior Banquet With the frocks and frllls of the new mode as CFISD
and airy as though just taken out of the bandboxes with sweet tones
of music renting the air the affair was an overwhelming success.
More than 100 dancers enjoyed its formality made much of its gay-
ety and frankly regretted the approach of midnight.
The spirit of camaraderie and the obvious joy in the dancing was
evident from the moment that the strains of the fox trot struck their
gala note until the f1nal phrase of Home Sweet Home concluded 1n the
musical phraseology of its thematic great granddaughter of todav
Forestville residents had an opportunity of a life time when the Sen-
iors presented It Wont Be Long Now . This performance was much
anticipated and well attended. Seniors! Congratulations! Such a premiere
was a treat which can rarely be compared.
The Alumni Dance vsas held at the Auditorium of Anderson High
School on Saturday May 20 1933. The evening proved to be a big hit with
its balloon and tag dances one step circles and broom dance. Fvery thing
contributed to its gayety and xerve nothing belng forgotten that could
make it carefree and felicitous.
