Show Stoppers The Student Talent Show held in late September was a genuine success. Many people contributed to the produc- tion which was sponsored by the Social Board Coffeehouse Committee. Each participant should be congratulated for the excellent performances rendered. Kay Love was excellent as the master of ceremonies. The student body should be proud of the abundance of talent found at Anderson. The acts ranged from a creative dance by Kim Fortune and Donna Ful- bright, to a comedy monologue by Bill Horvath, to a melody of classical music performed on the piano by Keith Timms. Many beautiful songs enjoyed by all included " What I did For Love " by Beth McFaddin, " Out On My Own " by Frances Anderson, " I Quietly Turn To You " by Vickie Ray, and Sheila Bea- cham ' s rendition of " We ' ve Only Just Begun. " Other headliners were " If " and " The Way We Were " by George Hall, " Little Flowers " by Todd Robertson, " Touch Me In The Morning " by Kathy Mathis, and Dana Clayton ' s and Lorie Garcia ' s lively performance of " New York, Mew York. " Two other crowd pleasers were " Endless Love " by Kim Garrison and Myron Duncan, and Todd Hadley who sang " Sail On " while play- ing the guitar and who for an encore presentation sang " Free Bird. " Each contestant was a winner for consenting to participate. The S.G.A. Social Board should also be commend- ed on the success of the program. An derson students, in turn, gave a very healthy turnout and were receptive to each performance. Some freshman are eager to get into the swing of things, as Sheila Beacham demonstrates with a performance of " We ' ve Only Just Begun " ! Dana Clayton, complete with costume, adds some spice to the talent show as she performs " Mew York, Mew York " with friend Lorie Garcia. Kim Garrison joined Myron Duncan in singing " Endless Love " after Carolyn Carpenter became I2 Talent Show

President ' s Reception — Beginning New Year A great way for students, especially freshmen, to get to know faculty, ad- ministration, and other students was provided in the form of the President ' s Reception. The annual event took place at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Ray Rust August 21. Connie Branch and the cafeteria staff supplied excellent refreshments. The students who attended the Presi- dent ' s reception went away not only with full stomachs, but with new confi- dence to start a challenging year at An- derson College. Is it the punch or the candid camera that is pro- ducing those fantastic smiles? Looks like a real ping pong tournament of a con versation. doesn ' t it? President ' s Reception I 1
