The council strives to maintain discipline among the men students on our campus. The seven mem- bers are a close connection with Student Government Association and the men students. These girls are appointed by their dormitory hostesses and are considered as a part of the student government association. The proctors check lights and keep order on their hall. Representatives from men ' s and women ' s council make up the joint council. Chapel programs are conducted regularly by the members. While the President of the Council pre- sides, the council members assist with the programs. College Choir The Anderson College Choir is a women ' s choir under the direction of Mrs. Fred Poplin. This outstanding group of women presents sev- eral annual concerts in addition to various en- gagements throughout the state. This year the choir is planning to make its first college tour. The girls are chosen by audition and it is deemed an honor to become a member of this group. This year an octet, consisting of four men and four women, has been an added highlight to the col- lege choir. The Anderson College Choir emphasizes the best in sacred choral literature but performs " light " music as well. The staff is composed of men and women who serve as reporters, typists, advertising agents, and editors. The paper staff strives to publish this journal bi-monthly. Mission Volunteers The Sketch Club is for students who are especially interested in art. They are students who are anions; the best when it comes to sketching. The Canterbury Association is a voluntary associa- tion of Episcopal students which has for its purpose the deepening of their faith in and their loyalty to our Lord Jesus Christ through study, discussion, and fellowship. The Canterbury Association prayer is " Almighty God, We beseech Thee, with thy gracious favour to behold Anderson College, that knowledge may be increased among us, and all good learning flourish and abound. Bless all who teach and all who learn; and grant that in humility of heart all may ever look unto Thee who art the fountain of all wisdom; through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen. " Canterbury Club The Methodist students are increasing in number every year at Anderson College and this year has been at the highest mark. This group meets bi-monthly in the day students lounge, at the college. Their meet- ings are composed of business and programs. Fellow- ships are held for the students at Anderson and Clem- son colleges in connection with the Methodist Churches of Anderson. Other schools in the sur- rounding territory were also invited to these. Mr. Henry Von Hasseln spoke to the group on " Commu- nism " and, Mrs. Ned Camp spoke on " How do you Know it ' s Love " . Anderson College Players The Players, a group of students who present dra- matic arts, is under the direction of Professor Everett H. Vivian. Each year, this group presents a play for college students and guests. This year they presented, " Tammy, Tell me True " . The play required a cast of thirty. Its mem- bers received training in acting, directing, stage man- aging, and make-up. Alpha Pi Epsilon The .Alpha Pi Epsilon, a national honorary secre- tarial society, stresses superior achievemenl in stenog- raphy and encourages members to (any high ideals into business relations. In the spring everyone ' s eyes turn to the thoughts of baseball, coached by Mr. Hill, and tennis coached by Mi. Grubbs. Each year track meets are held in Anderson. The Association is also responsible for the May Day Program winch is held each year for college stu- dents and guests. This year the theme centers around Story Book Land.
