This was the second straight season that we have either won or shared the title. Over a period of two seasons the baseball nine has lost only one league game. Dave Gardner hit and pitched the Tars through a six win and one loss record. Gardner, catcher Leonard Shipley, third baseman Bob Williamson, and left-fielder Tom Williamson were all named to the All-Conference First Team. Center-fielder Ralph Hellebuyck and short-stop John Funk were named to the All-Conference Second Team. Second baseman Richard Burr was All-Conference Honor- able Mention and was voted team captain. The track squad placed fifth in the Conference Meet at Memphis on May 12. Team Captain Dan Paull was a letter winner and second on the list of point earners with 40 points. Richard Rivard led with 54 followed by lettermen Greg Schuster 12-2f3, John Funk 10-2f3, Richard Burr 7-2f3, and Bob Gies 4-3f4. The thinclads lost seven men through graduation.
