Semar 611155 J-lzslary 1959 Wall sho nuff ch1llen Ah knows all 'bout them sen1ors of '59 Why I ve knowed most everyone s1nce they wuz l1ttle tykes Ever s1nce the f1rst of the crowd gathered w1th M1ssus H111 and Mlssus Marshall for dere f1rst day of school 1n 1947 As I recollect lt there was 'bout s1xteen l1ttle rascals who showed up that day and de C1 ded to St1Ck lt out to the end F1rst off there wuz that l1ttle tomboy Syb1l Wolfean Who would ever knowed that she would turn out to be so glamorous' Ah guess she was the one who kept Pe r ry Lane dat great track star Ju1np1n' h1gh Carol BObb1e Jo and Joanne was the r1ngleaderS of dat f1rst grade Dey shore knowed how to lead de men 'spec1a1ly pore l1ttle bashful Tommy Prescott Speak1n' of bashfulness there never such a one as Bud Stanley Why d1d you know dat l1ttle ole Bud wouldn't even have h1S pltcher took lessen he could hold on to M1ssus H1ll's han? Well ch1le I bel1eve so He must been cause h1m and dat Toby Gardner has always g1ven them g1rls fltS 'bout sump1n Now B111 MCA1lSt6F and Ch1pper Pemck always d1d have an ear fo' mus1c Well dey had ears anyway ' ' As fo' the other two members of de f1rst grade B1lly Dobbs and Edgar Haynes ah best re member them as quxet l1ttle teacher's helpers ' When everyone began to gather fo' the f1rst day o' second grade the k1dS not1ced a stranger mn the1r m1dst But how could dey m1ss for Dav1d Ashworth stood head and shoulders 'bove the rest 'Bout dat t1me de kxds d1 s c ove r ed there was two other strangers 1n the crowd unpred1ctable ole Edd1e came gallop1n 1n to Jom the clan He always wuz a speedy l1ttle tyke In the th1rd grade the future valed1ctor1an Glenda Barrow and strong and Sllent James Whlt m1re helped to get the group off to a roarln start Later 1n dat year the f1ve glrls 1n Mlss Bar r1nger s room outnumbered 1n a b1g way by the boys welcomed Nelda D1xon to the1r ranks As school began fo' the fourth t1me fo' the k1dS Judy Sherman who was no dumb blonde but a smart brunette was a welcome member She was the last newcomer for two years fo' school opened and closed 1n the flfth grade w1th no new members The S1Xth year was a sad event fo' dat tall and hand s o me Davld Ashworth had left the clan Dere hearts were soon gladdened though cause P D Marshall who was later a class favor1te arr1ved on the scene She soon found her place 1n the group and became a 'Favor1te' w1th B111 Mc A11ster Many came and went 1n the seventh grade but after the dust settled day found dat Robert 'Pat Boone' Womack and that gorgeous Annette N1eme1er wuz here to stay Tommy Thompson l1ked the e1ghth grade so well dat he dec1ded he'd stay 1n lt two years He wuz there early to greet Margaret Renfro as she arr1ved fo' the f1rstt1me R1ght after the Chr1stmas hohdays de class came back to f1nd qu1et and sexy Wheeler Trant had been added to the1r roll As the class started to h1gh school br1ght and v1cac1ous Helen Naylor wuz on hand to help'em get started She turned out to be the only permanent add1t1on to the group fo' dat year As romance began to blossom w1th Wheeler and Joanne and Pudge and P D the tenth grade classes began The group welcomed st1ll taller Dav1d Ashworth back and he was soon Jo1ned by Beatr1ce I-Iargraves who almost 1mmed1ately changed her name to Dav1s As llth grade classes began sweet and lovely Ruth Wallace and dark and mysterlous Stephen Heard Jo1ned the crowd It wasn't long 'fore Lloyd Watson stooped down and walked through the door o' ole A H S The glor1ous sen1or year began as the second redhead o de class Jere McClure appeared He and h1s l1ttle red ford became qu1te well known The class also greeted on of those post grad uate students John Heard H1s brother Steve must have lead h1m there And so de roll 15 complete fo' de Sen1ors o' 1959 De've been a m1ghty good bunch and I sorta hates to see 'em go But I'se bout sure dat everyone 1S a gonna do the best dey can to make ole A H S proud I ' ' I , . . . . , .
