keeping to Faye Yeager Joan S1moneaux and Jo V1ta Benson ELEANOR BRUGGERwould also
l1ke to leave a supply of greasepaint and cornstarch to Nadine Ha rmon Becky Harrison and
Judy Harding. JOHN HEARD and TOBY GARDNER leave their high scholast1c standing to Billy
Townsend and Wesley King BO WATSON and JERE MCCLURE leave their dragstr1p successes
to Ray Sm1th and Cl1ntonW1emer HELEN NAYLOR leaves her black hair and the honor going
to the Woodvllle Festival to Betty Robertson
In conclusion the class of 1959 would l1ke to leave to the class of 1960 a Senior year as
wonderful as the one they have experienced May your class share the memories of happ1ness
and sorrow throughout the years as we hope to do

Wall sho nuff ch1llen Ah knows all 'bout them sen1ors of '59 Why I ve knowed most everyone
s1nce they wuz l1ttle tykes Ever s1nce the f1rst of the crowd gathered w1th M1ssus H111 and Mlssus
Marshall for dere f1rst day of school 1n 1947
As I recollect lt there was 'bout s1xteen l1ttle rascals who showed up that day and de C1 ded to
St1Ck lt out to the end F1rst off there wuz that l1ttle tomboy Syb1l Wolfean Who would ever knowed
that she would turn out to be so glamorous' Ah guess she was the one who kept Pe r ry Lane dat
great track star Ju1np1n' h1gh Carol BObb1e Jo and Joanne was the r1ngleaderS of dat f1rst grade
Dey shore knowed how to lead de men 'spec1a1ly pore l1ttle bashful Tommy Prescott Speak1n' of
bashfulness there never such a one as Bud Stanley Why d1d you know dat l1ttle ole Bud wouldn't
even have h1S pltcher took lessen he could hold on to M1ssus H1ll's han?
Ah bel1eve ever s1nce as knowed them young'uns Eleanor Brugger Jack Bruce and George
W1llcox ha been da shortest members of the class An dat a1n't all ne1ther dat shortness a1n't all
what George had Fact 1S h1s classmates got to call1n' h1m "Pudge ' cause he was suchabutterball
What's da.t'? You say 'Has Frank Henry Clore always been the handsomest boy 1n school?
Well ch1le I bel1eve so He must been cause h1m and dat Toby Gardner has always g1ven them
g1rls fltS 'bout sump1n
Now B111 MCA1lSt6F and Ch1pper Pemck always d1d have an ear fo' mus1c Well dey had ears
anyway ' '
As fo' the other two members of de f1rst grade B1lly Dobbs and Edgar Haynes ah best re
member them as quxet l1ttle teacher's helpers '
When everyone began to gather fo' the f1rst day o' second grade the k1dS not1ced a stranger mn
the1r m1dst But how could dey m1ss for Dav1d Ashworth stood head and shoulders 'bove the rest
'Bout dat t1me de kxds d1 s c ove r ed there was two other strangers 1n the crowd unpred1ctable
ole Edd1e came gallop1n 1n to Jom the clan He always wuz a speedy l1ttle tyke
In the th1rd grade the future valed1ctor1an Glenda Barrow and strong and Sllent James Whlt
m1re helped to get the group off to a roarln start Later 1n dat year the f1ve glrls 1n Mlss Bar
r1nger s room outnumbered 1n a b1g way by the boys welcomed Nelda D1xon to the1r ranks
As school began fo' the fourth t1me fo' the k1dS Judy Sherman who was no dumb blonde but
a smart brunette was a welcome member She was the last newcomer for two years fo' school
opened and closed 1n the flfth grade w1th no new members
The S1Xth year was a sad event fo' dat tall and hand s o me Davld Ashworth had left the clan
Dere hearts were soon gladdened though cause P D Marshall who was later a class favor1te
arr1ved on the scene She soon found her place 1n the group and became a 'Favor1te' w1th B111 Mc
A11ster
Many came and went 1n the seventh grade but after the dust settled day found dat Robert 'Pat
Boone' Womack and that gorgeous Annette N1eme1er wuz here to stay
Tommy Thompson l1ked the e1ghth grade so well dat he dec1ded he'd stay 1n lt two years He
wuz there early to greet Margaret Renfro as she arr1ved fo' the f1rstt1me R1ght after the Chr1stmas
hohdays de class came back to f1nd qu1et and sexy Wheeler Trant had been added to the1r roll
As the class started to h1gh school br1ght and v1cac1ous Helen Naylor wuz on hand to help'em
get started She turned out to be the only permanent add1t1on to the group fo' dat year
As romance began to blossom w1th Wheeler and Joanne and Pudge and P D the tenth grade
classes began The group welcomed st1ll taller Dav1d Ashworth back and he was soon Jo1ned by
Beatr1ce I-Iargraves who almost 1mmed1ately changed her name to Dav1s
As llth grade classes began sweet and lovely Ruth Wallace and dark and mysterlous Stephen
Heard Jo1ned the crowd It wasn't long 'fore Lloyd Watson stooped down and walked through the
door o' ole A H S
The glor1ous sen1or year began as the second redhead o de class Jere McClure appeared
He and h1s l1ttle red ford became qu1te well known The class also greeted on of those post grad
uate students John Heard H1s brother Steve must have lead h1m there
And so de roll 15 complete fo' de Sen1ors o' 1959 De've been a m1ghty good bunch and I sorta
hates to see 'em go But I'se bout sure dat everyone 1S a gonna do the best dey can to make ole
A H S proud

You're typical teens. . .making fun out ofwork. . .sharing
interests. . .you like jeans but can change when it fits the
occasion.
Yes, you're typ i c al teens. . .go steady.. .about five
months. . .dress up. . .he els for her. . .tie for him. . .you
know how to drive.. .rely on the family car. . .get it. . . say
twice a week.
You're a typical high school student. . .you go out for
sports. . .one hundred percent. . .you hold down a job. ..
baby sit. . .sometimes into the early hours of morning...
you work in stores. . .garages. . .up late. . .little spare time.

Your daily schedule is a familiar pattern of high school
life. . .get up at 6:30. . .maybe 7:00. . .sometimes over-
sleep. . .go at break-neck spe e d to class.. .you snack...
drink cokes. . .listen to the radio while doing homework. . ..
munch candy bars and hot dogs. . .you enjoy school but hate
to admit it. . .study some... 3 hours a night. . .nO. . .a week
...average "A". . .well "C". . .anyway you make the grade
. .but you're satisfied because you are a teenager.
And so, here is your book, THE ANAHUACONIAN, which
brings out our school life. . .in classrooms. . .athletics. . .
music. . .whatever it may be. . .wherever you may go. . .you
always find it.
