FROM TEXAS Way down in Anahuac around the year 1938 eleven little cowhands began their long hard round up toward graduation Little Cully Harris in his striped ove r a ll s was sitting inthe very first seat on the front row Vida Stephenson the golden haired cowgirl was sitting right beh1ndCu1ly Doodle Anding was up to her old tricks again putting gum in Vida s lovely curls On the two last seats on the first row was s we et little Ann Nolte On the front seat ofthe second row we found Barbara Sterling talking to none other than joan Austin Behind joan sat Bunny Barringer looking a bit bored It couldn t be' Arthur Smith with his head in a book? Oh it was only a Gene Autrey funny book On the third row was Ruby Lee Smith joyce De villier had pulled her hair again and Ruby was hitting joyce over the head with her Premium Prize Six Shooter The person s itt ing on the very last seat was Floyd Gersbach He was reading an article from Popular Mechanics magazine A fir st grader reading Popular Me chanics '7 Oh but Floyd is an exception In the se c ond grade there came to Join this happy group Tavia Rae and Buddy l..aFour from their cow pony ranches in Wall1sv1lle and johnny Vance the tenderfoot from Indiana The class did not increase in number until they passed into the fifth grade At this tlme Cactus joe Gaspard from Beaumont became a member Red Rider Harold Thompson from New Caney rode into the seventh grade on a slow mov mg nag In the eighth grade this brilliant class gained a swe et gal from Shreveport Louisiana named jo Anne Gray Finally this class reached high school where as freshmen they were joined by Lean Mae Cline a mighty purty gal Allen Albritton and Lee Abshier a couple of swell cowpokes all from Hankamer Billy Walker that plain spoken hombr e from Fannett and Linda McCanl1es the hifa lutin cowgirl from Tomball rode into town and Joined the round up as they went into their junior year At last the long hard round-up was coming to an end Marcelene Witte from Sugarland and jimmye Frezia joined them in their senior year bringing a g r a nd total of Z4 members The senior c la s s of 1950 has been very fortunate in attending Anahuac High School and if their future history is as successful as their past they will be fortunate indeed
