In conference action, the only losses were against West Point and Oxford. One of the Highlight victories of the season came in defeating Starkville, their first Conference loss in four years. Although the season was begun with much inexperience, it was a successful one, the Panthers being invited to play in the Batesville Jaycee Bowl against North Panola - the first bowl game in several years.
