MSE M. 0 llll'-.SSS SENIOR POEM From Freshies to Seniors in four shoit Veais Thru eight semesters of hopes and feais Now each into the wide world must pass, Each in a way, sorry to leave A. H. S Vernon is known to be Slim and tall He feels better in overalls. Dave is short and full of pep, In basketball he's right in step. On Gib you can depend, As a good and faithful friend. Lois doesn't have much to say, As she goes about in her quiet way. Maybe Holland, if he had his way, Would come to Amo every day. Of our class Ann is one, Known and liked by everyone. Eugene Greeson, a lad so true, In the ball games, always comes thru. Dolores Applegate, a pretty lass, Stops all the boys as they go past. To sail the sea in uniform grand, Marshall Walton is the man. Charles Feller, a business man is he, At this work, successful he will be. Deloris Snyder, a rural lass, Is very outstanding in our class. A quiet student. as you can see, Luella, a tidy wife would be. Harold combs his hair in every class This to help him capture a lass. As student manager, Doyle was on the beam But soon he will join Uncle Sam's team And as this class disperses in '45, Long may our class spirit remain alive Our genius, our ignorance, our goods and bads We leave such as this to next year's giads 18

1 9i,.- - M E MCQBMI. E..15..r.r-... Hvrrrrsa ,HCQL5 CLASS PROPHECY In this little narration with the reader, please keep in mind that our story takes place in 1950. Seated before a large fireplace, feet warming, as the fire casts rem- iniscent shadows on his face, sits our narrator. The wind whistles a mon- otonous tune, the fire burns lower, his pipe goes out, his head droops. He sleeps-and dreams. Wind: Nar: Wind: Nar: Wind: Nar: Wind: Nar: Wind: Nar: Wind: Nar: Wind Nar: Wind Nar: Wind Nar: Wind Nar: Wind Nar: Wind Nar: Wind Nar: Wind: Where is the Class of '45? Dolores Applegate finally married her sailor. They have a lovely home and the cutest little daughter. She must be about three now. How about her cousin Vernon? Whatfs he doing? Oh! Slim, yes. He was our center on the basketball team. Well, Slim has a whole fleet of trucks now. Lives comfortably, too. Whatever became of Luella, didn't she work at a switchboard? Yes, she started there, but now she is a supervisor in one of the largest telephone companies in the United States. By and by, didn't Ann and Luella start togethe1'? Yes, Ann is at the same Company with Luella. She controls all long distance calls. Tell me more of the old ball team. Harold, for instance? Harold has a farm and home all his own now. He's doing all right. Is Gilbert still a grease monkey? No sir, Gib wasn't there long 'til he owned the place. His new ga- rage looks like a supermarket. Did a swell job on my car last week. Is Charles still an office boy? Oh no, Charles is Vice-President of that firm now. To prove he's in the money, the first thing he got was a big Olds. You know he al- ways wanted one. Is Eugene still working on a farm? He won lots of ball games for A. H. S. Working nothing, he owns two big farms now. He can afford to loaf a little. Where has Russell been lately? Russ is out West somewhereg has a series of Dude Ranches all the way from Colorado to Mexico. Draws a wealthy crowd. I guess. Where's our boogie-Woogie man, Rolland? Well, he left school to take a radio course in Chicago. and he stayed there. Still plays a hot piano. He and Ann are engaged. I'll bet Marshall and Doyle are farming? Right, they each have a swell farm, pretty close together. Marshall is married, but Doyle is bashful. Didn't Dave and Rolland take the same course in Chicago? Well, they did, but Dave is in the East now with a big radio station. Didn't Lois become a secretary? Not for long. You see, she married her boss, and became a house- wife. Deloris Snyder is also a wife and mother now. Swell family It grows colder, your fire is out, and the sun has risen. Awaken- Dreamer-Awaken. -Russell Hulse. 17
