Bloom, Mrs. Ramseur The Human Relations Club was developed to bring about a better understanding between people in our school-community who may or may not have different points of view. It's members have attempted to imple- ment this goal through various means through the years. Human Relations Day , classroom communication ex- ercises, plays, the decorating of the walls of the cafeteria with a human relations theme have all been attempts to bring about unity and understanding through diversity. Members of the club may participate in community sponsored activities and may involve themselves with other schools where this is indicated. The skills learned pass from one student to another. Two years ago when the community Chapter of Amer- ican Field Services was organized, the school chapter was incorporated with the Human Relations Club because of the similarity of goals. As a result the club activities grew to sponsoring an AFS Day at which time a number of foreign students come into the school to share their culture and experiences and to learn more about the American way of life and its peoples. Through this students serve as good will ambassadors and assist in bringing about understanding among peoples. Students from AMHS have gone abroad for both summer and full year exchange. Jane Ann Bean spent the summer in Germany. This year our program is also focusing on the transi- tion of students from Junior to Senior High and in- volvement in the total community through the activities. We believe just interacting with others in extra-curricu- lar activities will bring about a better understanding. Walk together, talk together, all ye people of the earth .
