THE SPEECH DEPARTMENT
Perhaps none of this year's dramatic students will ever make a stage debut
on the Great White VVay, but certainly all of them agree that the past season
has been a lot of fun.
VVitli the procluetion of the lively anfl heart-warming comedy, "Nltf1ie'l' lvl!-I
IN ST. l.0l'lS,H which was clireetetl by Mrs. Egeland, the year got off to a goocl
start.
Next came the Nl Speak for Democracy" contest, which was won by
Camille llenry. Lucille Witt, 'lim llertholcl, and Carol Wernert took first honors
in the annual Prince of lleaee fleelamation contest.
Spring proved to be a busy season for the speech department with the
presentation of the beautiful llaster pageant. "'I'1,n-1 f,PlCN TOMB," a group of one-
aet plays, ancl a three-act mystery.
Parlianientary procedure, panel cliscussions, and debates were other proj-
ects of the year. The classes also attended several plays in Cleveland.
The crowning event was the initiation of a large number of the senior class
into the National Tliespian Society.
