A Record of friends, teach-
ers, studies, clubs, plays, sports,
publications-a pictorial resume
of all the people and the activities
that have contributed to your
many happy times during the
past year--this is what we have
tried to recall for you in our diary
of the school year, September,
I944, to june, l945. Remember?
SEPT. 61- And then the whining school boy .
. . . creeping like a snail
Unwillingly to school.
What fun to meet the old gang after a summer of war work, farming,
domestic toil, or loafing! We found three new teachers in our midst, among
them Mr. Pincombe, who had returned after an absence of two years. lVliss
Steele welcomed a large group of freshmen into the study hall, and we all
settled ourselves in different seats and prepared to begin our labors.
SEPT. 9iAlready the hall guards have found out that even in spite of Mrs.
Eppley the junior high folks haven't learned that they should walk on every step.
SEPT. l7-Prexy Smythe presented his candidate for president, Jake the
Gremlin, at our first chapel.
SEPT. l9--The Mixed Chorus started weekly rehearsals at the unearthly
hour of 8:10 A. M.
SEPT. 27-Was l nervous to be interviewed by the state inspector today!
After inspecting the teaching, equipment, and special departments, Mr. Lou-
thian of the State Department of Education, submitted a favorable report.

bags of milkweed floss.

over. Ray Smith, as l3-year-old Filmer, kept the cast well-entertained.
DEC. 2l--Being a hall guard was fun this week. The big Christmas tree
in the front hall gave everyone that goodwill to men feeling. The pre-
flight boys knew that Christmas was in the air too-they all had mistletoe.
What fun!

OCT. l9--Oh, my aching G. l. bones! Walked to Outdoor Life with rest
of G. A. A. members on first annual hike.
DEC. 7--Hopped on bus and went bowling at Cook's tonight. l'm still
trying to figure out why there is a ditch on each side of the alley. The ditches
caused a great deal of trouble.
JAN. l--Gerry Smith completed school today. Connie Kominis took over
the presidency. Sure going to miss Smitty. She was a real athlete.
FEB. l4--First basketball game tonight. The mighty seniors' romped over
the juniors. Won't anybody be able to stop the '45'ers?
FEB. I7--Just home from udancin' off both my shoes at the G. A. A.
dance. Roy Koch and his orchestra played. Best dance yet!
MARCH 61-Basketball season ended tonight. After tournaments at school,
we had a swell lunch prepared by girls and Mrs. Schulz. Really glad to be a
member of the G. A. A.
APRIL 21-We started our volleyball tournament. Something new for the

Amherst is going stronger and
stronger 'for Mis'chka's new, richly
flavored ice cream. Its finer texture
and richer Ibutterfat are making it
the favorite. The same high 'grade
ice cream used in our Nut Sticks,

it yiourselfg you'1I soon taste the
higher quality. Nothing like it ever
